Chevy Camaro In Sl

Saw this car @ galle face yesterday escorted by a couple of defenders.. it took me some time to actually believe that i saw a camaro in sl!!!... but cudnt take any pics.... got these pics from a friend who managed take the photo on time... hehe.. wonder who`s car this is

nice find but the car doesn't seem to be having plates...

heard sometime ago that this was gonna be making an appearance in SL, part of a PR campaign by the local agents... dunno if that's the case here

That's a strange looking defender I see in front of it.. may be the defender got left behind..

Or worst case, it could be "Bumblebee" from Transformers...

On a more serious note.. as curiosity builds up among us all, I have a feeling we could see this parked at the Cinnamon Grand. I try to have a look today.

That would be me, mate. I was the one who was yakking about the 'Banana Republic' as you choose to call it. Do you have a problem with that?

So everytime some bugger brings a high end car, It has to be a Politician, right? It has to be through ill gotten gains, right?? So SL will never have great cars, if not for the politicians, right???

This is a demo model that was brought in for a conversion job before re-export to a 3rd country. Possibly Oz. So I was told.

Most Sri Lankans don't have goons in Defenders or double cabs following them around. So who do you think is driving it if it had an escort? And do you seriously think a politician on their Rs 50,000 odd a month salary would be able to afford such a car through legitimate earnings?

there is absolutely no evidence to say that this car is owned by a politico..

even when the DB9 was brought down, so many stories were going around the country about a politico getting it down...

the truth was far from it..

in fact, i saw the DB9 just before christmas near townhall... a 30+ guy was driving and there was a kid at the back... no escorts!

No arguments about dirty politicos ripping off public funds and getting nice toys for themselves and their families but i think it's rather lame to label every neat car into being owned by dirty politicos...

even this escort thing, the other day there was the donkey of a defender guy flashing all his lights and honking like a mad man behind me in heavy traffic. Somehow managed to give him room thinking it's an escort vehicle to find out it's just a normal dude using the LR's reputation to bully himself through traffic...

Far enough. I guess my ubiquitous disgust at politicians got the better of me. You're right. Its to early to judge and hopefully this doesn't turn out to be an instance of misdirected public funds.

Every flashy car that is being followed by a Defender or a double cab or Montero is not a car bought with ill gotten gains machang. There is enough of all those vehicles in the country that one following another isn't an uncommon sight.

When the the DB9 was brought down in 2006, everyone had kittens thinking it was for the First Kid. It was not. It was brought down by a business man in SL. But then some buggers in the media Wagged the dog.

Today as I was coming down Duplication road I passed a Jaguar that was being followed by a Black Bad Ass looking Defender which was being driven by some Chinese Chick... so please tell me, are we having Chinese women with 2 kids up front escorting High end cars???

Pretty soon, this Camarao would 'belong' to some big wig and then there will be stories about it and then before we know it there will be thread after thread on AL too.

Our tax money or not.... this guy has a good taste!! I mean seriously there isn't any better Muscle car than this (other than the viper... nobody is crazy enough to bring that down)...

.... and Ripper i don't think this car has any number plate holders in front to have any plates in the first place :P

I saw this car on the way back home from office last evening. There was no escort.

Machang, most politicos we have at the moment know better than to flaunt their wealth, the big sharks who are really skimming the country is doing it in style and we will never know how much or when or why.

Care to wonder why the Exchange Controls were relaxed last week???? Now any Tom and his Friends Dick and Harry can transfer money out SL with no restrictions!

You think these buggers are stupid to bust it on some car that will lose its appeal in 6 months??

This kind of stuff only excites little girls with PS2s and watching re-runs of Transformers.

Last month we went to Trinco and I was following my freind's car in my Pick Up truck..... so for you it would have been 2 political goons, right??

Car being followed by a pick up truck = Ill gotten wealth + Body guards?
