Shayan De Silva
I recently bought a Suzuki Swift car and there is a noise coming from the front left shock. I thought of replacing the shock. I checked the prise of a new one (KYB) and it is around Rs. 9000 while a reconditioned one would cost around Rs. 4000. What are the pros and cons of buying a reconditioned one as opposed to new. Appreciate your feedback

Appreciate your feedback i would say first to check your suspect shock to confirm it indeed is the culprit. suspension noise can be due to multitude of reasons. If you are sure the shock is gone and need of replacement i would say going for brand new is the best bet. if you go for used ones, you really dont know the condition of it and when that too will go bust, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a few more years. Going for a used one is ok if you plan on flogging it off and want to save the extra 4k almost forgot it's not advisable to replace just one shock as that can affect the way the car handles. you might have to replace both front shocks! NPP
couldn't find another place so I'm posting here.. the 'thud' noise from the rear when falling into ditch continues in my vios... so did another shock test and found the rear ones to be perfect but the front ones have a high pressure and I was told to replace them. Removed the rear right shock just to have a check if any marks are visible due to the sounds .. but none... after refixing I think the noises hav reduced tho.. while the ride being a bit bouncy like a rubber.. (or it's my mind) anyway, the price of the front shocks are arnd 10k and now I hav a doubt whether it's for the pair or one :S so what I want to knw is do I have to replace the shocks or is there any way it can be corrected? Agreed. And go for a brand new KYB Japanese shocks. More durable than KYB Singapore.

harshansenadhir
that's an old post you guys are replying to someone please help me out wid my post I'm not quite sure the rear shocks of your model has any shock mounts, some rubber sort of thing which sits between shock and the body. Please check for worn out or cracked or stiffen shock mounts.

heavyD
Yep, most definitely a shocker!!! Really? Cause even a Maruti 800 front shock would cost about 6500/-. And a rear one about 2500/-. And that's Indian stuff, mind you.
