B 14 Engine Tempreature Gauge Not Working

Riz

Question

Bought a B14 (1994 model), 1.3 car recently, the temp gauge seems not working,

Also another aspect the radiator fan is connected directly to the ignation, i cannot come to a conclusion whether this is

done to avoid overheating, since tempreature gauge is not functioning

Any expert advise on both the matters pls

- How i cud check the tempreature gauge, also one of my friend told me to check the sender unit, if so where is it located

- How i cud connect the fans to work automatically when tempreature requires the level

Hi RIZ

Get a multimeter and put it for Ohms and keep it to the temperature senor when it is cold and also it is got, there should be a

considerable difference in Ohm value returned while the engine is cold and engine is hot, if so sensor is working fine but your gauge is bad ,i can't remember exact value in Ohms , if i get ill post it to you ,

Resistance should decrease as temperature increases

Thanks

Regards
