Help On Green Test - A Toyota

nadunr

Question

Hello friends,

I am new to this forum, I need an advice from one of you guys know about vehicle emission testing and engine tuneups.

The test result was "passed".

However the guy who did the test suggested me to go for an EFI tuneup.

What do you think? Do I need an EFI tune up? Or can I postpone it?

How much will cost roughly?

My car is a Toyota Starlet EP 82, I got this emission test done recently.

Here is the result.

_____________Limit__________________High Idle__________________Low Idle

HC PPM VOL___1200__________________218__________________358

CO%___VOL___4500__________________1881__________________1134

CO2%___VOL________________________14010 __________________9330

O2%_____VOL_______________________0.090 __________________0.090

Lambda____________________________0.947__________________0.947

RPM______________________________2570__________________730

Fuel wastage percentage

High Idle SLR per litre - 7.89

Low Idle SLR per litre - 8.80

Thanks.........

Fuel wastage percentage is towards high side. My one is 9cents and 8 cents. Also co% is high. Better you go for a tune up. Basically they will clean your throttle body and check sparking plugs. If you are closed to ethul kotte , there is a garage run by former toyota lanka formen at Angampitiya road and the Formen's name is Chandrasena. He does a good job for a resanable charge. All the running repairs of my wife's ep91 is done by him.

If you haven't done a tune up in a while. there's no harm in doing one.

with all filters, plugs etc the agents will charge you about 14k if my memory serves me correct.

I'm sure other joints would be cheaper.

it's weird that you seem to be burning more fuel in low idle and not the other way around. maybe that's what prompted the testing joint people to suggest an EFI tune up.

Thanks a lot guys,

Just another query,

which is better Toyota lanka or a Local garage?

What will be the rough price difference?

This drive green guy told me it cost about 3000 for the tuning. What about if parts are replacing (Im sure I will have to do)

Would really appreciate your opinions.

Thanks
