Take it to the agents... get a Condition Report (will cost abt 2700).. but it's worth it... make sure the Gearbox is in good condition or ur screwed ;)

Talk to Guruge @ the agent.. he is a good fellow.....

It will take abt 3 hrs for them to do the full inspection... & it's better if u r there.... best thing is to call them first & be there as one of the first customers for the day..... u can get a reports as well as an estimate for the required repairs (if u want)

he is upul. i do all my repairs there. multimatic gearbox is the one that you got to have a through check. that of course upul will do. it wil at least take haif a day at the agents for a condition report if you make a booking in advance. i would say both places are good.

even before you go to agents or upul, you can check the service records with the previous owner. specially the gearbox oil changes. and you can have a test drive too.check for any vibrations and jerks if yur doing the test drive on your own.

Current owner does not have any maintanance rerords . - in that case better get the inspection report machan..... also check with the agent if the car has come for any repairs.. they will have old records (if it has gone to the agent)

brother dont ever get caught for the look. specilly this kind of a car. you will be sorry in big time if the MMT gearbox faild.

like chris said, check for old maintenance records at stafford. and how many owners all together?

mind you, this car has been there for quite sometime and i wonder why nobody took it a way specilly these days because there arent good civics availble in the market.

and recently a white color virs advertised on AL which was in a fairly good condition went for less than 19. somewhere around 18.50. and i drove it too. so i think still you have room for bargain.

Sorry I forgot to tell u, This was moved 2 months back n I was refering to the old ad @ AL which is still there.

The new owner seems to worring abt the budget that the prices will go down ? (As he said)

But the market seems up a bit for the new year season.

im working in wattala and i saw this car was going towards ragma few times. get the basics checked by staffords or upul and offer around 18.50. i think thats the price you should pay for it.

Yes don't get caught to the reasons given by sellers. Since no service records available and been a Multimatic gear box, i'm sure you will be able to get on bargain. 1.9M is too much IMO.

Best is take it to agents and get an estimate for possible repair as well. 1.75 - 1.85 would be ok price depending on the condition.

Ralph.

This car was testdriven by one of my friends and he claimed that it was in good condition

Anyway Take it to the Agents or Upul. Because if the MMT box is not maintained properly by the previous owner ull have endless trouble,Ive also heard of many Owners who are repenting for buying Honda MMTs without checking.

Dude, go to the agents.... Upul has his fans, but there are also a few people who aren't too thrilled with him. Getting work done by him after you buy a car is one thing, but before you buy the BEST place to get it checked out is the agents, no question about it. So rearrange your schedule a bit and make some time, or book in on a saturday. Either way a small time investment now will pay dividends later on.

Saturday is possible as long as u can go there & be one of the first customers :) .. i took it their by 8:30 on Sat & got the inspection done... as i said.. it takes abt 3 hrs... but it's worth it machan... also some of the guys working might offer their services to get ur repairs done privately :) ... so u can get good contacts also....

Also .. after u buy the car if time is ur biggest problem.. i know a guy who picks the car from office, does all the repairs & service & drops it back... (as long as it's not very far)... been giving him cars for the past 8 years... & he does a very good job.... but first thing...get a good inspection done :)

i have not seen upul is using scanners. anything to do with cvt gearbox he will defenetely diagnose. he basically maintained my civic vi cvt until i sold it. and once he cleaned the lower valve body of my cvt gearbox too.

but for an overall dignosis better go to agents.

+1

If by any chance Upul knows the previous owner or if he is getting something from the deal, that f***** would recommend you any piece of crap if he can gain a new customer or some other benefit out of it..Talking with first hand experience here. He recommended a EG8 Vtec to one of my friends and said it was in very good condition. Later when we went to inspect the car, we found out that the previous owner had used it on LP gas. Suspension was rubbish(he said it was bc of the old tyres) and when we asked him, he reluctantly agreed and then said his most fav. words. "Well we can fix all the issues, no problem". I mean which good  , honest mechanic would suggest a crappy car to another person knowing the actual condition of it. Anyway, it up to the owner of the car to decide.. :) Just giving some information so people can take precautions when they're working with these sort of people.. :)
