Daredevil

Recommended Posts

hi all

i am planning to buy a dual purpose vehicle with comfortable. So obviously I have opted for the CR41 or CR42. I have used many Toyota cars and vans but haven't had any experience with CR41 or 42 before.

I have heard some issues with the 2C engine used in this van. :jumping-smiley-013:

So any members who have used this vehicle and has experience with this. Please share what ever the information you have.

Thanks in advance

Regards

this is the first time I heard of the 2c giving trouble at 150k.. My townace CR36 ( Lotto 4WD) with the 2C engine ran 300,000 before its first overhaul :)..

Dielsel Engine over haul intervals are mostly dependant on the maintainance you do.. Proper servicing and filter changes at appropriate intervals and it wud be perfectly alright in the long run..

CR41 came up to 1998 and CR42 1998 onwards.. I got a CR42 1998 which is pretty much a CR41 in every aspect. There is no issue I have heard of nor experienced with the 2C engine except that the van feels a little under powered. Maybe that is why toyota went for the 3c in 42. Good and hardy vehicles. ride is slightly bumpier than its predecessors using "leaf spring" suspension yet, its a good ride.

Sir,

I write this because in your lat para you have mentioned about Suspension bumping.

All List members I want to share my past Experience in Japanese Vans.

All Toyota vans imported to Srilanka are used for delivery of goods in Japan so they had manufactured them to carry specified weight.

We in Srilanka use them Mostly as a family passenger transport Vehicle so the correct weight is not loaded therefore the Vehicle use to bump in rear this was a common problem.

I imported from 1978 Japanese Vans what I used to do was to remove the two helper springs from the rear differential suspension and use spacers for that spring space. Then that bumping will be very less.

In 1979 I imported KM10 9 Passenger Petrol van with rotating rear seats this had on rear.Rear suspension only three springs no helper springs 13 inch Rims with 4 ply Tyres I copied this to other vans after that and it was very successful.

For Tyres I use 4 ply Tyres change from 6 ply. This will give a comfortable Drive. For last thirty years I have used more than 15 Vans all was done with above modification I did not have any problems on all vans What I have used.

The Van what I use for last three years had done this modification have had no problems done 35000Kms.

Wijesinghe.
