eyepea
How critical is it to replace broken front shock bumpers ? Of course I plan to get them replaced. What I want to know is, has this repair got to be done urgently ? What damage can happen when running with broken shock bumpers? Thanks! 0 Ripper
what's a "shock bumper"? Edited September 6, 2010 by Ripper
0 Elvis_Pil
Dont know what else to call the bumper but its the poly bit you mount on the rod on the top of shock, usually it needs to be changed with the shocks.. Delaying the change of any suspension part including the shocks will cause a higher wear on the other parts, as its a system that works as one. For instance if its just the shock bumper thats broken, you will still be able to drive the car, but the life on the shock will be reduced by a great degree. Also weak shocks tend to cause higher tire wear..

0 Ruslan
machang do these things come stock? or is it an aftermarket suspension improvement thingy? Machan, Bumper stops comes as stock, these will prevent Shock absorbers excessive travel all the way up when hit huge pot holes, bumps and preventing bottoming out the Shocks. when you replacing shock absorbers these needs to be replaced separately. http://kyb.com.au/feature.htm Bumper stop location in AE-100 front suspension setup... 0 Ripper
aha.... you learn something new eachday thanks guys I thought those things were for race cars and the likes to stop the cars from bottoming out and also to adjust the level the shock goes down to. remember reading somewhere long years back it was a major issue in US racing scene and was outlawed
