Hi, Has anyone got a clue on what the fuel consumption of the 3liter (Diesel) version Toyota Smart Cab is. My friend is getting around 7 km per Liter and most of his running is done out of colombo; Is this acceptable. If not what could be the problem.

Thanks

I get 10km/ltr in most of stop-go traffic in colombo for 2.5ltr smart cab. Outstations 15kms/ltr.

Friend has one, 7-8 in city but claims 12-14 outstation. Not too hard to believe since my 106 used to be capable of about 11-12 outstation when it was new. Either your friend has a lead foot or he needs to get the vehicle checked up.

It IS a 3.0L turbo. The 106 was a 2.5 or 2.8 right?

well not exactly a smart cab but the ford 2.5l is giving more over 10 in colombo with AC and a heavy foot! :P

And Peri 106 is 2.8 afaik!

In my experience, a 3.0L common rail i/c turbo diesel in a smart cab should return 8 - 10km/l in town and 10+ out, assuming average traffic conditions and relatively sensible driving style.

Let me throw this in to the mixture.....how would it things change if this vehicle is being used on estate roads......

it would change to the worse... On an estate you'll be travelling on more orless the 1st/2nd gears 90% if the time, hence burning more fuel.

Im in the club who thinks the 2.5 is better, more efficient on the smart cab. Checked out a 2007 Nissan Navara 2 wheel drive a couple of months ago and was surprised to see a 6-forward stick. Kinda OT I know but thought mentioning. Now can a 6-forward be more efficient than a 5-forward? The last time I saw a 6-forward was on a Celica GTS and Tiburon GT.

Slightly OT, Does Toyota Smart cab comes with Auto Transmissions?

AFAIK No. Only the 3.0ltr "G" Double cab comes with Automatic transmission.
