The yellowish colour is mainly due to the reaction of plastic with the UV rays. I had the same issue with my R33 here and there is a product to clean lights. It's kinda like a polish but made for plastic. I used it and it was much better but the look will go after a couple of months or so and you need to clean the lights again. I'm not sure about crystal lights in SL but you should be able to get a whole set from Sigapore if you travell overseas, for a decent price also if you just put it with your normal luggage and they don't open it you can avoide the tax too.

a new pair can be picked up from panchi minus the bulbs for 5k and up depending on quality it goes upto 8~10k too.

Saw at MM organization sometime back and i bet other shops too will have em

you should be able to use your contacts in singapore and get a better one shipped down...they've got angel eye versions there for the 110

sorry if this is a lame question, but are "crystal lights" the same as HID lights, or are they regular halogen bulbs with a different housing / reflector setup?

nope...crystal lights in our context means those clear lenses you get on newer cars as opposed to the patterned ones on older cars.

It's got nothing to do with bulb technology...you can use a halogen, normal incandescent or even and HID bulb in a crustal light housing!

"Crystal lights" is a term used to describe the reflector type with a clear glass. HID`s are a different type of bulb where the light eliminating technology is different to halogen.

You can use HID bulbs with a “crystal light” set up or a “projector” type set up but it`s better suited with projectors because they don’t scatter the beam everywhere.

getting it from Singapore will be easy for me,but im afraid that "will they have em"?becuase iv been there for a quite a long time and unlike srilanka i hardly see a 110 on the streets.

il give it a try and find out.

so if i find one from SG/SL how am i supposed to install em?are those universal ones where i can install em by my self or am i supposed to take my car to the garage and do some cutting to adjust em?

riddle, these aftermarket headlights are availble in sri lanka. i bought a pair for my ae100 2 years ago. i spent only 8k after trading in my originla head lamps t them in kandy. place was charlton motors. but you should remeber that these head lamps are not of very good quality as they tend to discolor after some time. and you should not expect the same build quality like your original factory lights since you may see some gaps in between and head lamp aligning issues after you fix them.

or else try fixing a jap used pair from a 110 facelift model but im not sure they are a direct fit for the pre facelift model.

hope this helps.

The face-lift can be done, but you have to replace the lights as well as the grille and the front buffer (and a small metal strip) also needs replacement if I can remember correctly. The problem is changing the rear as it involves quite a bit of cutting and shopping.

I have seen quite a few halfway jobs but not been to fond since I'm quite used to seeing both pre and post face-lift models in original form.

Keep in mind the dashboard and the interior is different on the face-lift model.

Try getting the lights cleaned or getting a set of replacement lamps for your original spec. If you are still not happy, try just changing the lights and see how you find it.

  • 5 months later...

Guys, I am giving life to this old tread to share my experience with you about the facelifting of my 110. You need;

1. Headlights

2. Side lights

3. Front shell

4. Shell panel

5. Front & rear buffers

6. Back lights

7. Boot lid

8. Dash board & yes… a good tinker.

I bought these items from reconditioned Japanese body parts shop for 120k.

Fixing in the front is nothing, just remove the old and fix the new. But for the back you need a good tinker and very much time consuming. There are lots of minor things you have to keep in your mind. There are lot of curves and angles to create and need lot of attention .

Replacing the dash is the next thing & had to employ an electrician as some wiring to do as some positions & designs are different. And a/c duct line to the center vents had to be created by fiber as it was not available (cost 1.5k). New beading to the boot opening should put as previous one is not long enough. And lining in the boot should recreate, but I didn’t put it yet.

But the outcome of this project is questionable (increase of the value is may not much as you spent. And it may be cheaper to buy the new model after selling the old)

I did this because the entire nose of my car is condemned after a crash and I could claim for the entire front.

Cheers… ..

For the front it cost me about 60k. I bought from eur*nip**n, all are japan used.

u need,

1.front buffer

2.Head lights

3.Side/Signal lights

4.Shell

5.Shell panel

For the front its just removing the olds and fixing the new & painting the buffer & shell panel.Any paintguy can do it & if u can find the same color shell panel & buffer its a DIY job.

But for the full conversion you need a good tinker as there are lot of curves and lines.I did at Kurunegala and if u need I can let u know the details.

I can recommend him for the job.

I have seen few of these half conversions. But they are not appealing to me.

Hope to upload few pics later as my cam is borrowed by a pal.
