Ok so i'm ticked off at all the problems i've had to fix on my new vehicles thanks to the work of the maka basses the previous owners used. Lets create list of the problems we have come across while working on cars.

I'll start.

Mazda tribute.

Original alternator died so the car was fitted with a random alternator that was 80 amp instead of the 110 that the car originally came with. The mounts were modified too. Only noticed the problem a couple of weeks after I bought the car and when I installed a new stereo that needed more power. The wiring harness was burnt.

Replaced the mounts with new OEM ones and put in a new alternator and belt (the belt powers all the other systems too except for the ac). Total cost: 75,000 since I didn't have the time nor the equipment to take care of that project on my own.

Well my friend, nothing beats, buying your first car ( Toyota Starlet EP 71 ) and the car doesnt start the very next day, cause the f****r who had it before did a 'glue up' job ( Not literally ) on the starter motor.

Oh and I wont start on all the rust the bugger had covered up.

But hey...you live n learn.

Bet you'll pay more attention next time you buy a used car and do your due diligance.

well.. there's only so much you can check otherwise you'll never end up buying a car... :)

One of the issues I faced was a front disc had cracked and had been welded/soldered (instead of being replaced).

it was only visible when I got around to replacing the brake pads - certainly not noticeable with the wheel in place; and on 90000km usage I didn't even expect the discs to need checking.

(actually the problem had probably occured because of brake binding from hand brake (it's on the front wheels) not releasing due to a problem in the caliper -> disc overheated -> crack. subsequently rather than fix the caliper (clean, maybe caliper repair kit) and replace the discs what had been done was to repair the disc and disconnect the hand brake cables)

but the biggest makabass job was this "expert" replacing some lost LDS fluid with ATF fluid, which required all LDS to be flushed and replaced, plus buggering up some other parts.

lol I had worse, this relative was driving my car on the way home, when I bought it, he goes a bit over the pavement and rips the front left tire around the edge, atleast he dint wreck my bumper or fender :)

WEll here'

s a couple of things that turned up in the last two weeks. (note that all these issues are turning up because i'm restoring both the io and the tribute to their factory specs and replacing all the worn out parts). Most of the problems I have come up with (with the exception of a few major ones) would usually go unnoticed and not caused major issues.

Passenger rear sway bar link was broken and welded together. (I have never seen anyone do this).

Multifunction switch was sticking on the tribute and my car got filled with smoke one day. Didn't know it was the switch so I removed most of the dash board panels andjust for the hell of it I decided to remove the switch. Turned out the copper contacts were sticking and overheating thus causing the plastic to burn.

Fog lights on both cars leaked during the flood. Turned out the idiot who installed new lights didn't close them tight enough.

This didn't cause a problem but was an accident waiting to happen. The positive wire out the siren in the alarm system was exposed an almost touching the body. No tape or heat shrink on it.

4 cylinder specific spark plugs on my 6 cylinder tribute. Replacement motorcraft plugs are going to set me back 1800 a piece x 6.

Oh I think the most annoying problem out of them all is that the io had that rubber door guard from darley road. The idiots used super glue to keep it in place and when I removed it the paint came out with it. Needless to say I have some touch of painting to get to when i'm done working with the mechanical stuff.
