ok to the OP... usually u have to top up the radiator with coolant or water while the engine is running.. make sure u get it to idle and slowly fill the radiator up to the filler neck.. accelerate a little and let the water circulate. then fill as necessary again as i am assuming the water level in the radiator to go down a notch. do this until the radiator water level is at a constant level.. if there is no leak this should be the case.. now put the cap back.., and open the reservoir cap fill it to max level...

do all this in a cold start and not when the engine is warmed up.. what happens when u drive for long is that pressure builds up and when it reaches a certain level i am assuming is 0.8 bar cap the excess water is put back to the reservoir. as i said drive for a longer drive and stop the car.. now open the reservoir cap and see inside the water level. DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT.. the water level should be at the max level or higher... if its going down then there is a small leak somewhere and the radiator is sucking in water from the reservoir to fill the void...

but eventually ur reservoir water level will go down and eventually become empty.. but it should not be empty in one long drive.. maybe in a week of extreme driving the reservoir completely empty.. but not in a day..

Hai friends

in my honda civic car,the radiator extra tank water is not pull my the radiator,i changed the radiator cap also, but still not pulling yet.what is the reason, any body help me. i am planning to put my car for some check up for stafford motors, they can short out my problem, wht about the ideal place for engine tune up & full check up.

thanks

Pirana

Yes... there should be a leak from the hose / hose connection.... the extra tank water is sucked to the radiator by sypohonage action...if there is a tiny leak in the system the syphonage action will stop.. due to lack of presure in the system.. so check ur hoses......(I also had the same problem..and i found a leak in a hose...i replaced the hose .. now it ok)
