I'm sure the state owned radio says a lot of things. The Tissa track (Carlton or probably renamed after someone now) was originally conceived to be F1 spec, with the long term view of bringing the F1 here. There should be some threads from maybe three years ago discussing this. Of course, said track is still dirt, apparently people planning it forgot that F1 runs on tarmac. Or the budget disappeared. Who knows? All we know is, its not done yet.

Ah so it's only F1 spec tracks,I thought the franchise itself was coming here,who knows maybe in the future even that may happen...anyways I'm not complaining,more racing tracks in SL in any shape or form is fine with me.
