I need to buy some interior parts for my honda civic through eBay. But I'm not sure about the tax aspect with this? Anyone knows a way to get to know the tax details?

will vary according to the type of part... try to find the appropriate HS code from http://www.customs.gov.lk/crdtc2/HSCODES_list.asp

but the taxes there may be out of date compared to recent changes...

when I got a power steering pump I paid ~40% as tax. (but luckily on undervalued amount)

of course you only get taxed if they decide to open it for inspection (usually will be the case if the package is big)

don't forget to factor int'l shipping cost when comparing to local alternatives... sometimes buying from abroad is not worth the hassle

Depends on the item you are bringing,if its really small sometimes they just dont open it at all.

But if you are planing to bring stuff like guages and stuff you'll probably be taxed about 40%

hmmm actually I need to import the rear trunk interior trim panel which is approximately 3 feet in length and 1 feet in width.

Owwww then some service like UPS might be better than USPS cause they clear it and also pay the tax and deliver it home.You just have to pay them the tax value+their charges.

Might be a little costly than USPS but no hassle at all.However if you are on a tight budget USPS would be the only option,but it will take about 2-3 weeks to arrive in SL.

You can use Aramex shop and ship. $40 lifetime membership. Air courier. Reasonable costs. Delivers to doorstep. Much like kapruka, except possibly more costly but you can order from your home

I checked out Aramex option based on one of your previous posts. I guess its good if you are ordering one package as they dont offer consolidation. But since kapruka consolidates and ships, I guess it'll be cheaper on shipping charges. But I think kapruka is currently US only. So in my case, it'll still have to be Aramex or a friend living in the UK.
