Hey

I'm thinking of going for a 2004 Honda Fit Aria, actually i'm in the verge of doing so, then all of a sudden one of my cousin brother said thats its difficult to maintain a honda in kandy! i am from kandy by the way and he says that for spares, maintenace etc you should go to the agents in colombo, Is it true? aren't there places in Kandy where i could perform such tasks???

Well you could do all that at W*ll*ys in Eriyagama and they're authorized by St*ff*rd, reasonable cost IMO. MkX and evergreen etc. should be able to give more info, but generally, yes it is possible to maintain a Honda in Kandy without too much of a hassle.

Sure you can maintain it in Kandy.

And also once you start learning little bit of the basic things and how to avoid any major repairs nothing worry about.

My BIL used a eg8 in Kandy and all the running repairs were done in Kandy.Even you have to do a major thing, Don't worry colombo is only 100km away.

Go for Honda then you see the difference.

a small piece of advice...the popular honda garages in kandy are more familiar with EG's and EK's. i would say specially ek's. the very few FD' s in kandy and the fair amount of ES series in kandy mostly come to colombo for the routine services.the same will apply to new genaration city /Fit aria too. of course its a good buy. but stick to agents at least for service and repairs. just my two cents. :)

Not only in Kandy but the general view of Honda is this. But this is not what users say. I have not experiences in Honda Fit Aria but Honda is one of the best!!!go for it..As suggested by one of guy there are places in Kandy.Just ask who has the experience on the Brand.

Wow it it so hard to repair a honda these days that we need to make our buying decisions based on the concentration of repair shops near our houses?

True.

This is also true, a Fit Aria isn't an exotic car lol

well as i see you can get done all the general day to day maintainances in kandy it self. he is not talking about a Porsche boxster its a Honda fit aria. there are no such complicated things to be done. But make sure that you do the CVT fluid change on time. if you get any major repair you can come to agents. but its a reliable car..wont give you such issues buddy

When it comes to newer models, to some extent it is valid. Best is to you do do normal oil and filter change from Kandy and may be in between every 2,3 regular services take it to the agents. Then it'll be only once a year or so.

@jdnet's comment, talking about buying decision based on factors such as repair shops, etc. Unless you have another vehicle at home its understandable why average guys in Sri Lanka looks for Sunnys and Corollas. Specially the middle class and lower middle class buyers which may be around 90% of the market.

Let me explain, there was a thread whether to go for Mazda Axella or some common model like corolla. My cousins Axela had an accident 2,3 weeks back. A tyre from other vehicle came out and hit the bumper. Only visible damage is broken buffer from one side. But it has damaged, power steering system, some brackets that hold the head light etc. The problem is no replancement parts available in Sri Lanka, even with agents. So has to wait atleast another 1 month or more for get it done. This has badly affected his business and every thing. A similar accident happened to my colleges FB-14, which took only 1 week to repair and get the vehicle back.

imagine someone who resides in Anuradapura or Pollonnaruwa has a Honda or a Mazda..im sure he may not find spare parts even for older models. but enough parts are availble for sunnys and corrolas.

For mazda 3 it may be possible but honda models which have been imported by the agents have spares at the agent may be at little higher price, also you could find most of the parts at delkanda area for all other civic models except FD1. Only thing is FIT Aria or any other JDM versions may have some dificulties to find spares.

Yes. So it is understandable why average person will always look for spare parts availability, ease of maintanence (guarages, mechanics, etc) as priorities than the comfort, performance, in first place.

True but OP isn't looking to maintain his car in kayts or yala. He's talking about Kandy.

I'm getting the feeling all this spare parts availability hokum is a bunch of crap. I have a friend who was saying no one could find CV joints for a Toyota Tercel. A Toyota? Weren't there supposed to be an abundance of spare parts for those? And this is in Colombo!
