  1. Dude, when you get to the states, get your company to process a SSN for you. You can get this in a matter of weeks. Then goto a local bank and show the SSN along with your passport/visa details and get a bank account/credit card sorted. Collect two credit card statements with the address of the place you are living in US and goto the DOT / Highway Patrol office and apply for a license. The written exam is so damn easy (made for blonde red neck wives!). Then they have an eye exam. After that they will give you a date for the practical test. You can use a automatic for the same. They hardly fail you. Just stop at STOP signs where it says STOP. You can use the DL to buy beer and enter night clubs, t..t.y bars and also check in at airports! :-) .. otherwise you have to carry your sri lankan passport for all the fun stuff.. then they are like "wheeerre uuuurr uuu froom?... Shriiii Laaaankaaa? Wheere da helll is Shri lanka?? ish thaaat in afffrika orr sumthin? gittauddaa maa waaay brown buoy"
  2. What they meant was power "reduced" by the given %'s with octane boosters (I corrected the "-" %'s as per your observation). The engine was actually set up in a laboratory and was connected to computers for analysis. They flushed the fuel system prior to adding the above additives so there is no mixing of different boosters. ---click here for the pictures --
  3. This week's 5th Gear carried out a laboratory test of the following products. The results were surprisingly VERY POOR! The conclusion is that cheap Octane boosters in the market don't really give you better performance and there is No such thing as Cheap power! However, they mentioned that using these products over a period of time MAY give you better results but no guarantee. See below the performance gains of the products reviewed: REDUCED POWER BY 2% REDUCED POWER BY 2% REDUCED POWER BY 2% REDUCED POWER BY 2% & 6% at full throttle!
  4. That's going to be a rare occurrence if you see it in your rear view mirror.. it would probably be Charith driving if it ever happens!
  5. > YES! He is, a big one! And also if you saw his face yesterday, you'd know looks very guilty; PERIOD! He probably begged Ron to recall the appeal too.. Agree about him being immature and unsophisticated!. He however is a "celebrated" champion atleast this summer in UK (I can vouch for that as my white clients from UK are totally supporting Hamilton and think the world of him). If you have a british passport even a hot hot Chapathi is celebrated in UK, unlike in US where there will NEVER be a black president! Go Kimi!
  6. First bunch of pics of all new Evo X Ralliart Edition. Enjoy!
  7. Meguires rocks! I used the TechWax and it worked wonders on my car. Highly recommend this over 3M products.
  8. Mivec.Turbo - You waited 1 year and 8 months to reply to this thread ! (which was posted Jan '06 and was excavated by a newbie today I think with a reply) I think you went through two cycles of evolutions during this time frame. Should have waited till December and made it three and replied .
  9. Yeah it was a Cutt Butt Evo ekak. Anyway glad that they destroyed it as it's more like the next best weapon to a bullet in wrong hands! Toluene is good stuff as long as you are clinical on proper mixing.
  10. All of the Evos since Evo IV (possibly some earlier models as well), which carried factory fitted stock ECUs come with "Dual Maps" to deal with High and Low Octane fuels. This is documented in the fuel section of the Evo IV-VI Service manual. "Detonation sensor Switches the ignition timing from ignition timing for super petrol to ignition timing for standard petrol." I have been running 95 Octane over the past 6+ years (in safe boost levels) and have had no issues. Of course for high boost track days you must use high octane fuel and you will notice significant performance boost due to the ECU switching to high octane mode! I have safely used Av Gas but I recommend using a good octane booster instead of Av gas as Sri Lankan turbo prop airplanes run on "Low Leaded Av Gas" and fuel with lead is not good for 'em modern cars.

    Evolution 1-3

As far as I know there aren't any Evo I's in the country, at least in running condition. There were a few Evo III's including one conversion & cut butts. If you find a Evo I/II let me know, 1st generation Evos will give you the best thrills for the buck as they are light and with 250bhp goes like stink. Would love to drive one! Checkout below to see what I am talking about:
  12. Bad bad.. you are now officially outlawed from family..
  13. When Evo Magazine reviewed this car amazingly they found out that it was just a fraction slower than the saloon model however, was quicker around the corners due to the fact that there was more weight in the back resulting in faster laptimes! It's a shame that Evo IX wagon went unnoticed considering it is the "quickest" wagon in the world beating times recorded by BMW, Audi etc.
  14. 1) Do i have to sit for the theory test ( I have done it for the C,C1) Yes. You have to take a theory test. It is held at Werehera RMV office. You need to study the booklet that covers bus rules/simple bus maintenance stuff. Can get from a Learners. 2) ANy medicals Yes. You need to get this from this government medical joint near nugegoda junction. You have to pee into a MD Jam bottle! and they will check your pressure, eyes etc. This place really puts you off as you are treated as a random bus driver off the street. The medical is a pre-requisite to step 1) above. 3) Any mechanical based exams Covered in the written test. You need to know what "brake binding is" etc.. There is also a driving test which is quite tough unless you practice. You have to parallel park a big ass bus in between two other buses and drive that thing a couple of km's with 3 examiners. They are very tough and you have to be 100% correct in everything you do. My advise is go through a Learners if you want to get this. Pain is you have to repeat step 2) every 3 years to renew. Unless you really plan to keep the good ol LR for years the pain is not worth. I am not going to renew mine coz I sold my 60- oil rig after 2 years of buying. I will stick to state of the art new vehicles moving forward.
  15. This is awesome. I was also quite impressed reading up the review on VTEC conversion for the mini. I hear when properly done it can do the 62mph around 5 seconds. Looking at the pictures of the car, I dont see the upgrade to the brakes. You should probably consider the brake upgrade as well... Well done!
  16. Thank you gentlemen!!.. TME is 7 years now and aging too... but it sure doesn't need Viagra just as yet!
  17. Heh heh.. Previous owner was complaining about the stains u left behind.. even the most expensive Autoglym products couldn't wipe em off!
  18. Dima.. "Mathata Thitha" :-)
  19. How Ironic "Maga Naguma".. This is what people wanted man... You have another election this will repeat. You simply cannot change this wonderful "Banana Republic" & its common man. I'll just be positive and think that authorities will use the money else where for a good cause, maybe to lease the 2nd "Himin" Airbus rather than stealing poor private sector's EPF ETF reserves!
  20. Here is the offical circular from the treasury. http://www.treasury.gov.lk/EPPRM/ttip/circ...TTIP-01-Eng.pdf Told u to keep the 320d. What can you get for US$ 16K? Probably nothing that will stirr your soul! :-)
  21. Dims, This is not Mayor's fault.. kudda buggers want to buy mods for their ricers . So they remove the man hole covers and sell them to bothal paththarey kaarayas. It is very common in our area. Sometimes you see random people walking on the road suddenly become shorter or sometimes dissappear!.
  22. I was thinking the same. Your cousin's getting old dawg.. and appreciate if you dont make fun of family! Hope he will do better with the Evo X.. but then again DSG paddle shift requires better reflexes..
  23. Dims.. it's a 9 RS with a lot of ponies.. that a side.. they revealed the X yesterday in detroit.. checkout the pictures: http://www.leftlanenews.com/2007/01/08/mit...x-breaks-cover/
  24. I will stick to my humble Sunday drives and be a responsible citizen. Heard the "Salsa MR" seems to be quicker in stock form than the 9 RS .. do u think thats the case?
  25. These are race cars.. accidents are bound to happen.. You fix em up and squeeze every horse out of it in the next race.. that's the spirit. And "Evolution" won't end.. when the IX bows down.. X will be waiting for you with open arms and paddle shift 6 speed gear box and a brand new Ralli Art Emblem to pull chicks! :-) Rock on!
