  1. Hi, One of my friend recently had the same kind of budget, it's around 1.7~1.8 like, N16 was his 'easy' option while he was getting enough negative feedback from most of his freinds. He's going to make up his mind and settle with it. As some said here, no car comes out of the factory without problems, even a good reputed car can be screwed up by the previous owner and problems could be there, so you cant find it from a test drive. You have options up here, my personal taste is for a Honda or a Toyota, if you stick to your good FC criteria. Good luck !

    Engine Oils

chris, I really felt good pick up and little better FC with mobil 1 - 0w40 after I changed from 15 or 20W 50 havoline fully sysnthetic. Mine is now 22k, so I intend to stick with mobil 1 untill 35 or 40K. If hyundai manual says 10 w 30, I guess available mobil 40 range should be ok, if you do not drive your car more severely.
  3. I think the reason behind lower limits(like 50, 70) is the size and condition of our road system. We do not have so many lanes even in a main road. You may have seen in other countries, there are wide roadways but you see one or two vehicles hardly. Roads are made for the future. And they think its essential as the food. But in our country we have enough other priorities. @ Gummybr ; ya, I only remember it when I see a head flash of an incomming vehicle !!
  4. speeds limits out of the city is 70 km/h when no sign is desplayed, I learnt it during last long weekend at weligama. Fortunately They didnt fine me on pooya day. If they did, I would have to go or send somebody all the way to weligama to collect the licence !!
  5. happy b'day ! long Live !!
  6. last night I went to see one b'cos one of my friend wanted, 2003 model, 14000km on odo, red, fully loaded. Owner called this morning, asking price was 6Mill !!....... way above ! I guess no one will buy that price
  7. companies should rush for their pending vehicle purchases, no VAT claim after first week of january '07.
  8. I would like to know the price of Montero sport 2002/3, and downsides if any Thanx in advance
  9. Happy 50th Birthday ! cheers !
  10. As I know many car agents knew this before hand, they had cleared all of the cargo and pushed buyers to buy before the budget. My company made a purchase on 16th because of the heard rumour about VAT claim. Not sure what IRD do with it !!
  11. I heard a hike even in tax for brandnew with the budget 2007. can get it confirmed after thursday
  12. 18.5 lakhs, go for a sedan of 1.5L or higher, FYI; hondacity idsi does 12km/l even with bumper to bumper traffic, long distance 14.5 km/l, but I guess 2003/4 recon is little over ur budjet. 323 is also a good one, not seen many in car sales. Anyone can post FC of Liyana?
  13. happy b'day ! still 23 ? jealous about ur age !!

    My New Ride

nice car ! yes cvt tranny needs more care, but fun to drive cos it's responsive. I also had heard some bad news regarding early days cvts because proper maintenance was not done.
  15. Turbo Vios is available in thailand, and it's a manual version, about 600 units made in 2005 as I read. New City's do not come with factory fitted turbo, but available DIY kits. Turbo does not work on City auto CVT version. sorry about hijacking the scope of the thread !!
  16. Some tech review of new honda engines. The author is known as one of writer for Honda, so digest technical facts only, dont follow words like 'top', 'new' or 'best'.....!! http://asia.vtec.net/Engines/R18A/index.html http://asia.vtec.net/Engines/K20Z/index.html
  17. is this the first mid range toyota car available with CVT tranny ?
  18. Air filters role ????? better name it ' fruit salad '
  19. your budjet is above average, I guess better stick with 'nokia'. for me phone life is about 1year. you can easily sell used nokia when you soon want a newer model. I've seen many people invest in phones than wrist watches for their image .
  20. drove only for 4 days thanks to my insurence company, I really loved this car. decent looking, comfortable. If you drive this car to office, and you wear a 'tie' regulary, dont put body kits and spoil its look, rear spoiler would be more than enough. just what I thought good luck !
  21. , fuel pump + auxiliary feed pump, only prestige people deserve it
  22. .... You seem to have a good fuel pump !!
  23. regarding CVTs, 7 speed mode would enable the driver to down shift (with a button) specially when you want to accelarate. Ratio is determined by the software. It gives a manual feeling in A/T. City brandnews do not come with 7 speed mode, but not sure the '06 model. Thai or singapore recons got this feature.
  24. cross wind tends to drag ur car to a side. considering the body shape I guess cross wind effect on older city would be less than the new one.
  25. touched 150km/h with city '05-cvt on a clean strech between Ambalangoda and Galle on Galle Rd recently. It was almost going out of control due to cross wind. will never go higher 120km/h with city again.
