  1. Does anyone know who the  Daihatsu agent / importer  was during the 80s-90s?

Looking for data on brand new Daihatsu imports namely the Rocky which was imported brand new.

They were also sold to the Army and Airforce I believe.

So its the short roof model. Nice. I remember these wouldnt even shift for 1.2mil and now they go for nearly 3mil or more. There was a FZ number around Colombo he was also asking close to 4mil.

That looks very cute. Also seems to be still a Rocky. I noticed that quite a few of them now have random lights and grills put on. I am guessing it was due to not finding parts easily.

@GummybrYes I spent near 3.6 for this and its had been partly restored, came with a shed of parts and sorta abandoned halfway. Its Off a govt office auction which was dispatched to them after use initial use in the Army (clerical Units).

Yes the FZ vehicle is also after use in two Embassies, the latter being German. I nearly bought the thing but the mechanical condition was not up to what I expected, and its an older model despite new reg.

@iRage I've been painstakingly ordering parts from all over the world, lot of work left.

Its very hard to find parts locally as these were built during the Daihatsu Toyota merging process. Thankfully there is a huge cult following for these in Indonesia and they have NEW OLD Stock parts and locally manufacture most parts as well. So i've been getting bits off Ebay Amayama etc.

Suspension and some engine transmission parts match the BJ70 series Land Cruiser but interior trim bits and things are all bespoke. Its almost the same size as a BJ73, the mirrors are the same but the Doors are larger in the rocky. Stuff like that, the Rear Windows are exactly like the BJ73 but a tad smaller. The BJ73 has split barn doors whereas this thing has a big rear door like a pajero or rav4. Its like they've shared bits and copied the others.

I don't have time to make a proper thread and I am very poor at documenting day to day updates hence the reason why I couldn't get one together
