It’s a Honda City (Thailand) 2001 Vtec engine car with Manual gear system. I am the 2nd owner & bought this car 4 months ago. Earlier owner hasn’t maintained the car in Company. I noticed fuel consumption is 8-9KM per Liter and realize it is not normal. I did health check at Stafford and they found defective Oxygen sensor in engine and replaced also did an engine tune-up.

Still the car is doing around 8KM per Liter. I am worried now. Any suggestions? :(

Fuel consumption has a lot to do with driving style. Try accelerating gently and changing gears up to the top without revving over 3000rpm.

Have you done a general service, and changed the spark plugs, fuel filter etc?

Mate its better to do a tune up from some where else since these so called agents have screwed more cars than i can count, also its possible that your MAF has gone bad.Did the agents mention anything about this ?

Yes did a general service. I always maintain 2000rpm but most of time on 3rd & 4th gear.

Yes it is in Colombo traffic..but city should do more than 10 in colombo traffic with less rpm..right? Injectors...that is not sure coz it's only 4 months I hv used this car. earlier owner also not in SL now ..

ummm I think you should be fine getting 9kmpl in the colombo traffic. I would be worried if you are getting this on a long trip.

Here's what you should do:

Before you get a heart attack by stressing yourself out about fuel figures, just forget about them for a while and just drive the car. Now if you are getting horrible kmpl's during outstation trips then let us know. If not just enjoy the car...soothing music helps.

Just dont sweat it bro, that extra 1km wont drill a hole in your pocket.besides your car i like 10 years old now. its normal for cars to loose some HP and millage over time :)

Agent is the best place for HONDA. Go and see Mr Lal Ganegoda if the problem exists.

If its doing 8-9kmpl in cmb traffic and you're worried, and if you want higher kmpls, you should consider moving out of cmb with your city, i mean the car :(

Anyways.. do a tuneup and other stuff and see...

9 kmpl should be ok in the city limits. if it can do atleast 14 -15 kmpl outstation then I suggest that yo car is ok. but if it does below 11 then there is a serious problem I suppose

Machan MINIACE, I have seen many times you have replying saying the same thing, whats wrong with replying for an old post if the right info/answer is not posted in that thread for the initial query? there are so many new people coming in and reading old threads, or might finding their answers, or of they have anything to add to the post they just do.

is there a policy not to reply for old posts in AL forum? i don't really get your point "Dude you are replying and old post...Just woke up??"

Dude just read what the concerned member contributed there...did you read that? Prolific you guess? surely not...so your contemplation is unsound. THE END.

guys i've heard the fuel consumption can be decreased by changing into good plugs.so just thought of sharing!

When you say decrease are you trying to say " fuel consumption can be improved ? " or

If you have better ( new) plugs ) it will give a better burn, so it will make the most of the fuel that is getting in to the combustion chamber. So you may see some improvement in the vehicle power, this should not be interpreted as doing less on fuel, but the opposite.
