Question

Posted

Hi guys,

I need to take few liters of petrol out from the fuel tank to put into another vehicle.

Is it possible to take fuel out from the inlet? thought of asking it before inserting a tube....

I've heard that some cars have anti-theft feature to prevent fuel taking out from inlet.

has anybody done this before? any risk of damaging parts when insertng a tube through the fuel inlet?

can anybody tell me is there a risk of damaging parts? fuel filter, regulater, valves, etc

Dont think you`ll damage anything. Make sure there`s no sand/dirt on hose you are putting in. Good luck in reaching the fuel level in the tank though, tried once in a Corolla i had (well I didnt really like the Pakistani bugger who was going to buy the car and the tank was full. :ninja: ) with a siphon pump but could not get the hose deep in to reach any fuel. There were just too many bends to push it though, a stronger hose would have helped though :(

It's very difficult in Corolla and once when I was cleaning the fuel tank I found a big part of a garden hose in the tank most probably an attempt of stealing fuel. If you really want it remove back seat , open a screwed or bolted opening on the tank then insert a hose. BTW you may break the non returning valve in the inlet of the fuel tank when you try to get the hose back if you put it from the inlet.

Is there a non-return valve in the inlet?

I thought it is fixed only between fuel tank & engine....

isnt it easier to take the can itself to the petrol shed and get some petrol, rather than go through all this sh!t?

It does not fullfil my requirement. my requirment is not to get petrol to a can but to get it from a fuel tank. :action-smiley-060:

Yes, It is a moving flap with a rim and helps to control spilling when the car shakes during the ride.

at first I thought you were trying to start a car that had run out of fuel and stalled. but if the car was stalled since yesterday, it certainly would've been faster to go buy some petrol than to muck around here for a day!

(I also thought of the possibility that you wanted to drain the tank for some work; but the "other car" didn't match that idea)

so; considering that you still seem to be actively interested in this project... are you trying to steal someone's petrol or something??

It is obvious..... before puting to another vehicle, one needs to put it to a can or bottle. I haven't heard a method to pump from one fuel tank to another. I'm glad if I could ...
