The name Montero was apparently used in reference to the Spanish word for Mountain (probably to imply it can climb them ?)

Also Pajero was called the Shogun in Europe I think.

On point! Saw one listed just a couple days ago. I knew the headlamps looked pretty unique, but thought the rear lamps might be confused with some other vehicles, but that's a nonexistent issue for y'all here lol. Yes it was ! They used Shogun in Europe and some South American countries but then did the whole mixing it up and changing it act. So during a certain period it was Shogun..then became Montero...then some countries went back to Shogun...it was all very confusing.
