Well I still could not get it! SO i started traversing through the Toyota Road car timeline focusing on the early 2000's looking for a potential model...and then I suddenly realized you had dropped a clue! I am hearing of this model for the first time! Surprised to know that we have this in SL. Anways I think I got the answer - more of a lucky break so I'll wait for others to have a crack at it.

Heh heh.... You wont know that the model is available in Sri Lanka due to the incorrect badging I mentioned. Man seems like you have a lot of time to research all the 2000s road cars. Well one cant pick up on that clue I left I tell you your have 0 common sense.

I see there isn't much progress in figuring out the car ?
This had and was related to the internals of a series of cars...one series was a symbol of Japanese elegance and success, and the other series was known for its sporty prowess.
I cannot say much with brevity as it would make the model obvious.

Well you just did when you said this statement 😉I guess I grabbed the keyword hidden here and did a search for car names like "keyword". Found the Twin of the subject car, wikipediad it and found the answer after @matroska and you.

Anyway, I was on this all along and even tried C***GPT with the points and clues being discussed but even the AI couldn't correctly guess the cars you guys are coming up with 😁

I used Wikipedia's list - quite comprehensive with the preview when you hover.

Right I think I will post my answer here.

The car in question is a Toyota Progres (Progray) the twin being the Brevis.

Nice one @Gummybr (helped me pass the time waiting for a turn at the doctor  as well )

Correct, the one I saw was a black one with Lexus badges believe it was GY0450 or something like that. Should have revealed the other light as well to throw you guys out. On the rear it looks a bit like the Crown as you mentioned.

Well its a Anonymous guy from Lombard who Fabricated this Automobile, must have been a Romeo and Juliet story.

Now repeat that one hundred and fifty five times

Right so as Gummy hinted and @amsandun eventually guessed the car is in fact an alfa 155- i saw this outside a watering hole in the Dutch Hospital area. Seemed to have been parked for a while. Anyway for no obvious reason I took a pic 🤷‍♂️

Owner is a very good friend of mine. Guy also has a 156.  His brother has a 33 wagon and other cool stuff. His brother is also the go-to carrier service for classics and whatnot in cmb.

He did youtube for a while too (commented on his video and instantly realized bugger was crazy like me) Very cool guy! “Travel with Alfa Romeo”

I think this car is related to a colour made by the son of DAT. A bit or rally heritage is there with this name by winning the Safari rally 4 consecutive times (I think it was the next gen that won it, but I have seen pics of this gen in rally livery)

Well this means you got it correct. But the story told in Wiki is, the color of this generation was made by the son of NIS originally and marketed in some regions as a son of DAT. But we're not new to this rebranding no? 😉

I believe the USA got the N brand later in 1980's vehicles. Manufacturer was same it was just the branding was different based on the markets. N brand was more of a top of the range brand for them at the time and the D brand was more mass market budget friendly brand at the time. If you run the registration number on the DMT website you will know as to what it was called in Sri Lanka. For Example the famous 510 was sold as a Bluebird, a 1600 and also as a Sunny if I am not mistaken.

Yes it is said this 710 series (1973-1977) was branded as Datsun 710 in US.

I vaguely remember a white one for sale a year or two back. So Datsun 710 is what the RMV says is it? The 710 was smaller than the corresponding Bluebird 610 of the same era and has similar headlights. Fun fact I nearly bought a 610 as my first car, but that so long ago. The one in the pic seems to have a fairly straight body work and in good order, is it daily driven?
