All three of them are well accepted cars in the Sri Lankan market. You will find FB15 lovers and haters in this forum, Corolla lovers and haters in this forum and also Swift lovers and haters in this forum. So if you put down your requirements, then perhaps the users and experts may be able to help you better. Otherwise this topic will end up being a debate.

Also are u looking at a beetle model swift or a jeep model?

Go for a Swift machan. For 1.8 M you can get 2004 swift in good condition. Very economical and good release value too.If you go for 110 or FB 15 for that amount you will find very old models.

fuel economy wise for a sedan and better second hand market wise go for ae110 if you want comfort go for the fb15 if you want ground clearance and newer car than both fb15 and ae110 go for a suzuki swift all three of these cars have prove them self on sl roads and all of them hold there second hand market well.

I own a Chevy Cruze (which is essentially Jeep model Swift). It's the second Chevy Cruze that I owned since 2007 or so. Personally I am happy with the car.

All three cars have a relatively stable second hand market. For some reason, Corolla owners are quoting really high prices these days and Sunny owners are following their tail. But I feel they just being too optimistic about the value of their vehicles.

For your budget, you may get a 2003/4 Swift, 2000/1 FB15 or a 1999/2000 AE110. If you seriously look around and negotiate, it maybe possible for you to get a newer FB15 or an AE110. So age-wise, Swift has the advantage.

Out of the three, AE110 (assuming it's in good condition) will do better in fuel. Spares would be cheaper but you may have relatively more repairs owing to age, if you don't get a well maintained one.

Swift's awkward shape doesn't make it any comfortable for long rides. It's probably the least comfortable of the three. I've been in plenty of FB15s and AE110s. I feel the FB15 is a bit more comfy than the Corolla.

Couple more things about Swift: It's got high ground clearance so it will go in most of the Sri Lankan roads without getting its bottom scratched. Swifts have a known issue with suspension mounts so if you hear a kata-kata noise in your Swift, don't worry. Any decent garage can sort that problem out. When you go to see your Swift, check if it's a 4WD (look whether it's got a differential). 4WD Swifts are generally bad on fuel. Also avoid the ones which have the bodykit, if you plan to drive on bad roads. Swifts which have climate control A/C, Dual Airbags, retractable mirrors tend to fetch a higher market value.

why dont you try a Carina?

i bet if you search hard you could get hold of a 301- for that budget

which will fulfill all your requirements.

yes carina is also a possibility it's comfortable car has good ground clearance for a sedan but the problem is it doesn't give good fuel economy like corolla ae110 but other than that it's a good car. :)

Hello there! My father had a 2001 nissan fb15 ex saloon 1.5L for over 5 years. We bought it from Ishara Traders Union place. It had about 17k on it's clock when we first bought it in 2005. We never replaced any parts of the car and we never experienced a flat tire. Our spare wheel was never used. It's a comfortable car for tall people ('I'm 6ft 4 inches and my father is 6ft tall) Anyhow we had a few cons too. When we sold it in year 2010 it was giving sounds from the cv joints and the back seat is not that comfortable as the ex saloon comes without rear head rests. Anyhow it was my fathers lucky car and he still regrets for selling it. I also like the handling and the comforts and the European looks of the car('Totally my idea:)). My best friend has a toyota ae110 (I'm not very sure about the model number) It's a 97 diesal 2 L automatic. His dad used it since 2000 (a permit car) and now my friend uses it. It's a very economical car but as a tall person I don't find it much comfortable. The engine was over hulled after about 170k on the clock now it has over 3k on the clock. The gear box is changed recently and I must say spares are very cheap( the auto gear box was only about 45k from kurunagala) As a tall person I love fb15 but as a student with a low fuel budget me and my friend love the Toyota too. Hope this helps. (Sorry Toyota owners if I hurt your feelings, this is not a comparison between Toyota and Nissan. This is just my point of view. Please correct me if I'm wrong)

1. a flat tire isnt a technical issue.

2. Trust me dude, around in 2002-2003 my dad too used to own a FB15 ex saloon. the handling isnt that good. and there's nothing europian about it.

4. your friends car is a CE110, and no, its kinda hard to compare them, coz the diesel and petrol. i have many friends who use AE110 (petrol) one have clocked 250k and still no trouble.

but for the OP i suggest the FB15 or the Swift Ignis, or you can add the Chevrolet Cruze like Crosswind Suggested, there basically the same car

also you can add a Mitshubishi Lancer CS1 to the list as well.

I've been travelled in all 3.

For me most comfortable was FB-15. Swift-Jeep model is not very comfortable car. FB15 got very good ground clearence. If you think of a car that suits worst road condtions that car can go, that would be FB-15. And I think FB15 is the easiest car to maintain in long run.

Ae110 is good car too. But in compariso spares / ground clearence / road conditions / comfort / maintanence FB15 is above better buy than AE110.

I owned a FB15 and drive a 110 regularly.

FB 15 is comfortable car compared to AE110. Has a better acceleration. Has more space.

In terms of fuel efficiency a well maintained AE110 will do better.

But considering your budget you are very lucky if you find a well maintained AE110. These days AE110 99-2000 model goes well over 2.1 M.

You can get hold of a 99 FB15 Ex-Saloon for your budget.

I don't know about the swift. But for me it has a bad shape.
