That is not the marks of being beat up. That is the crud on the track that gets stuck onto the very hot and sticky tires when they go around at slow speeds and off the racing line.

Yup.Sometimes the drivers do it on purpose to add weight to the car to meet the minimum weight regulation at the end of a race.
