Just noted a small chip on my front windshield (Toyota AE110) Can someone suggest a place and cost to repair it in Colombo? How much will a replacement windshield sink me? Thanks folks!

Brandnew one cost around 12000/= at "Samarasingha" u may give a try at Delkanda for used one

No no.You CAN get the windcreen repaired.There are a couple of fellows doing such things.Forum member Silvy is one of them,though member reviews have not been in his favour...visit him and get a quote then compare it with the cost of a replacement.

i have a windscreen chip repairing device that i got from Germany. but i havent used it on any car yet. it came with a self help video which guides you through the repair process. let me know if you are interested.

It will be something arround 12000 to 15000 Rs. Check for the country of origin if you go for a brand new one. There is a place @ Piliyandala & one of my friend fixed a reconditioned one for 13000 from them recently. Also check with Gal*e Windscreen House & Kottawa.

Mind you, those vendors are saying that if the DOT value is less, then the windscreen is in high quality, but this is a completely incorrect thing & they are just trying to sell their goods. As far as I know, DOT value is a something like a serial number which issued by an organization for their safety certification .

The DOT number on the Windshield means.

Department Of Transportation number on windshield is manufacturing country and the company identification.

Most Japanese Vehicles has DOT20 that denotes the Glass manufactured in Japan Asahi Glass company.
