HI Expertise (GOLF GTI MK4)

i changed my Rear suspension along with the lower arm bushes,so had to remove the whole arm off to replace it .so had to disconnect the rear brake lines aswell. once everything is over and done as it was before, but by mistakenly the guy @ the garage had mixed dot 3 brake oil instead of dot 4.after knowing it before moving the car they flushed the line with dot 4 oil and filled with dot 4 oil the left all the air in all foer lines. but even after doing it the pedal didnt come up though it is very low down,as a advice i kept the car whole day parked and did start 2 to 3 times n pumped it but didn't feel any change. so drove to office in the morning from dehiwala to townhall, i feel a mini change it has come up a bit like.i kindly need an advice.mellow.gif thxs

does the pedal comes up when you pedal few times at raw? then when you keep pressing it, do you feel it goes further slowly towards the firewall/floor? If you answered Yes to both questions, there are still some air bubbles inside.

Sounds like you have gone to non-golf/Euro expert, no offense but that's the first step of ruining that beauty I feel.

Did he bleed from all 4 points and also from the master pump itself? since it's a complete flush of fluids a thorough bleeding is required unless you used a bleeding machine.

Only suspicion is air inside the system as you didn't touch the disks.

ya all 4 point rear n front but not the pump

best would be to ask him to re-confirm there's no air bubbles in the system and ask whether it's require to bleed close to the pump as I've seen this is required in certain tandem type pumps where dual circuits are being operated.

YMMV of course, but with these cars it ALWAYS pays to take them to someone who knows how they work. Im sure your mechanic is a "good guy" but since when has ANY mechanic in SL admitted that something is beyond his scope? They will ALWAYS say "Mahaththaya, karala balamu" and in the case of VW's and most other euro cars that is often a recipe for disaster.

In the long term, it makes MUCH more sense to go to someone who specializes in them.... Unless of course you want the thing to turn into money pit that will quickly drive you loony!

My advise is to show her to someone else, the members may guide you to a VW expert. As it was the mechanic's fault he may try to cover up the seriousness,so it will be better to show it to someone else. And see what has actuall happend.Just my 2cents

Yes i will stick to a specialist mechanic in the future thxs -

what i did was

1. Drained all the oil

2. Filled new oil pumped it well

3.started bleeding generally on all 4lines

4.And then started bleeding from 1 - left rear

2 - right rear

3 - left front

4- right front

so by using this method kept on bleeding like 3 - 4 times and then the pedal came up as it was before alc.gif

Guys recommend place to tune her :)

Great, and if your guy couldn't do at much as you have done, no two words, you should change the fella :D

one small tip in bleeding brake systems, use a plastic/rubber tube which can be attached to the bleeding nipple along with an emptry brake oil container. Helps a handy, cleaner job and minimizes risks of brake oil contaminating with paint or chassis/underbody.

Glad you managed to get it sorted, good job!

dude, I've already posted the contact details of a specialist in the other thread... you said you had gone there... curious as to whether you had any problems with the service since I know them pretty well and can pass along any complaints you may have.

Hope Supra's advise will not be in vain, if I was you, I'd obtain help from the friend based on his competency. End of the day, you'll lose the quality of the vehicle and friendship both, if anything goes wrong, trust me I've burnt my finger in this, so to speak.
