Ripper
my uncle ordered a silver, auto elite... if if remember right he placed the order sometime in july. He got the car yesterday... I suppose the color and specs might make certain cars get delayed a lot more cos my uncles car came before the said delivery time or 3 months after placing the order

Tuff Don
Thank u for ur valuable replies guys.My worry is that I ordered it in there N'Eliya showroom.I deposited the cash to one of there bank a/c in the name of U*m* E**er*ris*s & faxed the req. details regarding the vehicle.I didnt got the original receipt since thay have posted to incorrect address. But later i got a temp. fax receipt.Later i came to know that orders were placing from branches and not from there H/O.So sometime they can overide the order and place the orders as they like.Eg.They can accomadate a customer who reserve vehicle after me.Thats why when i m calling to H/O they always tell to cantact there branch. So later i met one of there AGM and he requested two weeks and said that they are getting 800 cars. But that two weeks never came after August.See how they are playing with our hard earned money.Sad thing is i placed a order for a A*to K10 with A*W in April and cancelled it and moved these buggers. So Nothing to rather than waiting for there RUBBER two weeks
Pericles
Well, there is a point. Black is the most popular color, so it might be harder to get your hands on than some less popular colours. Would you consider checking if they are willing to get a different color for you quicker?

kush
Typical UML things have not even changed after 4 years, this is the usual s**t i got from them when i ordered my vehicle in 2007. They said it will be deiverd in October 2007 actual delivery Feb 2008. I lost about Rs. 300k due to yen appriciating. My advice come to Colombo go to the show room start making a secne then they will direct you to a higher up get a commitment from the fellow. KasunCharya
I think your selected color is the problem, bcz I ordered in June and they said recently confirming ,after 20 Sep I can get the car.17 Sep they'll get the shipment. And also I ordered a silver one at Colombo show room. kush
Dude it takes at least 3-4 weeks for them to register and deliver the vehicle after it arrives (personal experiance of a friend), apperantly there is a delay at customs in inputing the data in to the system. dieahrd
We got the black M/T elite a week back after ordering in end of May.We gave black as the first preference and 2/3 other colors as second preference.IMO color is not a problem. After visiting the Hydepark office and talking to the salesmen and head of sales few times, following are my views: 1. The processes The whole sales process is manual. If your file mistakenly gets allocated to the wrong pile, it will take a miracle to get the car on time. Once they receive the chassis numbers from Malaysia, they spend days analyzing the data set trying to find duplicates. Yet they end up going to RMV with duplicate chassis numbers to register and face delays. A 15 minute task which requires an Excel sheet, takes good 4/5 days at Unimo. Salesmen are helpless and their restricted by the convoluted bureaucratic process at Unit#d Mot#rs. 2. Sales staff Barring 1 or 2, majority of the sales staff just doesn’t have the experience to deal with customers or with a standard govt document. I overheard one sales guy instructing a customer to fill the registration paper saying "Put Colombo as the province". Some of these tasks are not rocket science and when you do it for the 10th time, you should be proficient. They look impressive with a tie and an attitude, but most are just junior sales wannbe guys. Key here is to deal with a sales guy who got some experience and influence to get things done. 3. Communication Keep constant line of communication with your sales guy. If you see an issue, escalate to the Head of Sales. 4. Patience You will need plenty of that Good luck..!!

I cannot give you the names and other information for obvious reasons.Hope you understand. My advice for you is to follow up with your sales rep on a daily basis until you get a confirmation. We must've called nearly 40 times to the Sales guy and his manager to expedite the process. They always promise to call back but never does. Always get a commitment on time and follow up. Few visits to the show room would help. I am not sure how much clout a sales guy in Nuwara Eliya would have in Colombo office. At any given time, there are 2/3 people at the showroom asking about their car delivery and another few people doing advance payments. One individula calling from out of colombo would be a low priority for the hard pressed sales team here.

Not like the agent can come take away your car. It'll give Tuf don a more solid ground to argue on with the agent. Just PM your contact info and he can get in touch with you. If there isnt tell UniMo to f* off, you're not paying!
