Electric Air Pump

Hello friends,

Its good to see the forum got a new look.

So I was looking for a Electric Air Pump to buy for 4DR5 jeep and was having a little bit of searching on ebay as well. I think there are plenty of those in the panchikawaththa. But since I have no clue about which ones are better and what kind of one is the most suitable one for me, I've decided to ask you guys. So I think you are already using one for your SUV or Car. Then please give me some information about it. The ones use for Cars are ok with jeeps? And which parameters do I need to look at mostly? Thanks a lot in advance.

What you basically need is a high volume compressor capable of handling at least up to 50psi (you won’t inflate your tires this much anyway). Otherwise you’ll have to wait forever for the big 4WD tires to be filled (depends on how much they are deflated though). There are high quality products like ARB, Warn, etc.., made specifically for 4WD use, but they do come at a premium price.

I’ve got a good quality Chinese compressor capable of pumping 90 litres per minute. This volume is sufficient for a 4WD tire, it does inflate my car tire pretty quick. Other things to look for in a portable compressor are thermal overload protection and a cleanable air filter.

I have a unit that let's me set the desired pressure (digitally) and it automatically cuts off when it reaches the pressure. cheaper units will either not have any measurement at all, or will have measurement but no cutoff programming.

i use mine in case I have a puncture (pump it up and drive to the tyre kade to sort it out rather than mucking about with the spare) and since I have it, I also use it to top up the pressure every 2 weeks or so.

just saw a pretty hardy looking 12v air comp at arpico in wattala. 3500 bucks it was i think and it looked a lot more heavy duty than the sears pump i have.
