There's a Test for the battery when you buy a recon hybrid. It's better if you can do it before buying. Also I've heard some people are selling Maruties saying that it has only used as a second car since the car has only 20000 Kms in the clock. Beware of that because in maruties the meter reads 0 after passing 99999 so the actual millage for that car can be 120000 or maybe more. In CR41 and KR41 vans also this happens. Best way is to examine break pedal rubber, tire conditions then the engine's smoke test. Also ask for service records. It's better if you can refer to few green test reports also.

i usualy go with the compression test. sometimes mileage is just a number, it totaly depends of how you drive and maintain the vehicle. i have seen 200k mile cars run better than 100k mile cars.

'blkr6',

Your advice is correct. Very few Mechanics have compression meter to do a test.

Most of our Mechanics are trial and error mechanics. They keep on changing parts which are not necessary. As they are unable to detect the fault at once.

When you change parts automatically the fault is eliminated. First thing when they remove a Self starter motor for a service what they do is change Brushes and Bushes. Which are serviceable.they do not know to test brush spring tension.

If you change the clutch plate they change the pressure plate and clutch thrust racer which is serviceable till the next clutch plate change.

No repair garage have proper equipment to test the faulty part.

This does not happen in the CR41 or KR41s, I have one for the last 10years and now with 300,000+ on the clock.. it had 60,000 when i bought it
