This is how i made led parking lights. Just found the diagram from the net and applied on my car .

Only you need

100nf capasitor

ln4007 diod

150ohm resistor

4 white leds

Old Parking Light

When it Light

Nice conversion for older cars. There are bulbs available for newer vehicles on ebay; my van was completely converted to LEDs, with the exception of the headlamps.

@reckless look for 555 based timer circuits. They will run straight from the vehicles 12v, but its always better to use a low amp fuse.

hmm I want to do this to my dome light / cabin light. I also want it to fade away when I close the door, instead just going out, it just looks cool. B) found a circuit on the net but couldn't find some parts. :(

Just go to peta. 1st cross street . you can find the parts .

in the site i found this is very suitable for cars . capacities and diode will protect the LEDs from any spike.

Members,

I have fixed directly 4 LED s in series to a burnt bulb broken the glass it works very well cost is 12.00 rupees only and my time to fabricate and solder.

There are 20 led bulbs already wired for 200.00 Rupees can buy from three wheel shops white, blue, and red

In pettah electronic shops, you can find led lamps working directly from 12V (No need of extra components) and has more light.

I found a one 12V LED lamp with power of 10W (not sure) and costs 500 rupees. Although it is expensive , gives heavy light which is difficult to look at it with naked eye.

yes machan I've found a 555 based circuit and it involves a fet. I will try to find the parts for that.

yeah petah electronic shops might have those parts, will check them out soon. thanks

will be great if I can change the dashboard illumination lights with these.

'Reckless',

Your dashboard lights are 12 volts Dc .LED comes with 3 to 3.5 Volts Dc so you will have to use a resistor to lover the voltage.

4LED in series OK for 12V .but

Do car gives only 12V want it go higher when it charging ?

Do alternate also gives exactly 12V ? no any spikes ?

yes though installing those resistors inside the meter cluster will probably be a little bit tricky.

You are correct alternator gives more than 12 volts your circuit is the correct for voltage variations bulbs on my circuit give little variation brightness on accelerating.

Your circuit has three other electronic components this will not give brightness on the circuit.

Then can you post a picture of your "4LEDs in series to a burnt bulb broken the glass". ?

R U using these in your car without burning ?

It is same as your circuit without resister condencer and the diode. 4 numbers LEDs in series.

Take a old bulb brake the glass and solder the end wire of the first LED and the fourth LED end wire to correct polarity.

Only thing the LED lights becomes brighter when you accelarate they do not burn off because LED can go up to 3.8 volts DC.

If you wire according to your circuit your leds will last longer there will not be a fluctuation on brightness.

hi, nice work buddy. i too love building circuits.

i am assuming the resister is to save the bulbs when supply goes beyond 12v,

and the cap is to bypass any spikes in the supply so that the bulbs wont flicker.

but, what actually the extra diode is for? to avoid any damage from incorrect polarity? i thought the bulbs itself being diodes can handle it.

Yes to your post. some circuit builders have this as safty. I do not know the reosen for the diode in front of the circuit.

I am more towrds to electrical not much in electronics. During my time there were metal rectifier and valve rectifier.for AC to DC.
