Mazda Bongo

Hey guys,

used a mazda bongo for the past 12 years and it's mileage is closing 299,000. Passed the smoke test but doesnt accelerate well and after shifting 3 gears speedometer just passes 50kmph. Time for an engine overhaul??

Also Thought of upgrading to a new van but diesel models are over budget(2.5 mil+). maybe a land rover defender or other jeep?. Any ideas on what model i could get for less than 2.5 Million ??

Not looking for comfort, just a spacious diesel vehicle that moves fast. Im fed up of shifting 3 gears to hit 50kmph. Cant imagine driving outstation alone :/

If odometer is reading the amount you have told it is time to rebuild your engine get a good mechanic to do the job.

Although age and mileage is a decent indicator...dont go for a rebuil simply based on those alone.

your acceleration issue can be connected to other problems as well. like how good your injectors, injector pump, fuel filter, air filter etc are.

Do a compression test and see if the engine indeed is needing an overhaul.

generally, when the pistons are wearing out...engines start burning oil.

you can find mazda bongo 1999 lion face and you can find mitsubishi delica L400 space gear below 2.5 mill.
