How Car Sellers Import Cars Older Than 2 Yrs

some car sellers stil has big stocks of car older than 2 years. (even 5years old) .According to the regulation now they can import only 2 years old cars. I just post this link to give you a example. there may be lot more. Are there any tactic they follow?

Imports to srilanka are only allowed as under.

Cars are under two years. Commercial vehicles are under 5 years old. All vans come under 5 years.

He may be having few vehicles which were imported before two and five years which are not sold.

No...2 mnths ago Govt issued Gift permits to Sri lankan's who are abroad and who is having SL citizenship...

From these Permits u cn get down vehicle older than 5 years but not older than 10 years......

So some people sold this permits to Car importers ...that is how they get down these vehicles....

One of ma uncles got down KDJ 120 Diesel prado for that permit...a permit issued to his son....

AFIK Gift/Blue permits are not transferable. Also, they were being issued for years now so not sure what they started issuing 2 months ago. Is this some new permit thing? you know any other information on this?

Guys whats this Haamudhuru/temple permit? I've seen some temples importing older vehicles and the import control website said you can import a vehicle up to 10 years old with it.

What are the constraints of this permit? as in engine capacity and vehicle value wise, any tax reductions? can the vehicle be transferred right away?

do not forget about the customs and harbor auctions

those vehicles will be given new registration numbers

there was one ad on last week " LAHIP..A " regarding a defender bought from the customs auction
