is it possible do a sports supercharged conversion to a 2006 beetle (indian) model swift? , if it is, then is there a place handle it in SL????. thanx.

I really must ask you, since you're asking this question; do you mean supercharging or turbocharging?

Posted

exactly , what i need to know is , like evo conversion (total conversion), can we upgrade a normal swift car to a swift sports supercharged model with total conversion kit?

thanks for the reply!

The evo is a turbo charged car, not supercharged.

The swift does have conversion kits but are not as common as the evo or sti conversions so finding one would be a little hard, but our guys here can make the custom piping and do the conversion depending on your needs.

And what exactly is your need ?

Be a little more specific cause if its power you are after there are easier and cheaper ways to gain power than turbocharging a car.

Also it would help us if you mention things such as your primary needs and budget so that we can guide you in the right direction :)

First of all u could do a conversion to your car. But i would advice u not to. The main reason is the swift sport was built for handling so i doubt it will have good handling with your indian chassis. also the cost of the conversion wouldnt be cheap since its a new car. You might end up spending more money than buying a new one.

Theres a few cars around town for sale of this model. So my advice would be sell your indian swift & buy an original swift sport.

Chooti Putha is right, the supercharge conversion is mainly made to be fitted on to the Swift Sport, doing it on a Indian Swift and you may end up with too much boost which the engine cannot handle and end up busting the engine. I could not watch the video but I think these kit comes without a intercooler ( not 100% sure)

But doing a supercharging on the Swift sport in my view is not a good idea, cos the swift has a lot of power anyway, car is light and very fast off the mark. Unless you are in to drag racing there is no point, especially on a Indian Swift where the cost of the conversion in proportion to the cost of the car will be significant.

The video shows a Supercharged engine and by the looks of it.. it is modification done in Japan.. probably a special domestic edition.. you could clearly see the engine being tested on the dyno.

will be cheaper to sell the Indian and buy a Swift Spots..

+1 Chooti Putha

But still if you want to continue, I'd recommend that you start with the minor modifications first and then move towards turbocharging just like what I've done on a Jap Swift. Im already done with the minor modifications such as a FFE Exhaust+Custom 4-2-1 Headers, Excedy Clutch, Iridium Sparks (NGK), a front strut bar, Koni FSD Suspension and Im currently working on the weight reduction on my own since expert knowledge is not that needed, and planning on a rear Disk Brake Conversion when my uncle comes back for his holidays. And Ive got plans for turbocharging but still working on the budget. I thought of contacting Sacha for the turbo.

Could you please let us know the costs for each of the modifications you already done?

Thanks!

Sajith83 should chime in here, since he owns a slightly modified JDM Swift.. AFAIK, all those supercharger kits are for the Japanese engine, not the Indian. So you're pretty much out of luck really. You'll probably have better luck surfing the Indian boards in search of a better answer.

Thank you all for the valuable comments:

I am sorry that i haven't mentioned my real requirement here. currently i own a mazda(not a swift) bj6p 323 (1600cc), YOM:2000, it does 10kmpl in city when i am driving it in normal pattern and i am using it as a daily runner.

It is a good car but it takes 13-14 sec to reach 100kmph from 0(starts with 0 RPM, tested in southern highway several times ). so basically i need more bhp like 140 bhp for 1000kg.

STI ands evos are not an option because still i need at least 9kmpl in city when i am driving it with light foot.

I think that explains my real requirement,

my budget = current car + 0.5M

Thanks.

Yes. I have not got anything done from this person. Spoken to him on the phone and according to questions I requested he gave correct answers.

To My knowledge he know about his subject Modifying automobile engines to required standards.

Few decades ago I overhauled generator and earth moving engine turbo charges so I have a fair knowledge about industrial engine turbo charges.

So u seem to want a car with good acceleration. Try a Civic Ek3 Vtec :) It'll go to 0-100 in about 10-11 seconds (Stock*) If you don't mind a 2door car go for a Ignis sport :)

hi kelum_wj,

Thnaks for the reply , EK3 Vtec also takes 13-14 sec to reach 0-100kmpl and Lancer GLX 1.6 ,EK3 1.6 and this has somewhat identical spec values. for this vehicle also in sites which contains specifications says it will reach upto 100kmpl within 11.2 sec. but practically without a proper launching it will add +3 secs. two door is not an option. appriciate your suggestion.

Thanks

140 bhp/ton with 4 doors means technically we are looking at a car with at least 160 bhp. but you said you want 9km/l at the same time which is kinda impossible in this context. so you'll have to go for a compromise.

if you want fuel economy with some ricer/hybrid thrashing performance you'll have to go for an ek3 or es3 civic rs. a 1st gen vitz rs or a 1st gen vios with a manual box won't be far behind.

if you are willing to sacrifice economy a bit you'll be spoiled for choice. carina gt's primera 20v's 2zz corollas 1st gen type r euro accords are all hovering around the 2.5 mil mark. and I'm sure I've missed a lot more.

anyway if I were you I'd just drop in the parts from a familia sport20 or an rs into the 323 and use the remaining money to get through a few set of tyres :D

You really have no idea about what you're talking here mate. You may be right about EK3 "without VTEC" with only 105hp but EK3 or EG8 with VTEC engine (130hp) already should do 0-100kph in around 9-10 to seconds with manual transmission. If you dump in Zakie's tuned-iChip(TIC) to that then you'd reach speeds that can match Carina GT (CGTs were even beaten by TIC SOHCs in drags). I had a Honda City with TIC and it could keep-up with 130hp, 0-100kph in around 9-10 to seconds EK3/EG8s. So you got many naturally aspirated choices before you consider less desirable forced induction options.

BDW my Honda City did 11-12kmpl in rush hour heavy traffic under same state of tune that I ran the drags!!!

I don't think that it"ll take 13-14 seconds. Even then there's a lot of performance modifications available for the D15B engine. So you can make it go faste easily. If two door was an option i woud have suggested the Volkswagon New beetle 1.8 turbo. Also the mazda Bj5W with svt is fast :)

thanks, bro, what is the Honda VTEC engine which gives 130hp. is it common to have this engine in EK3(VTEC)s that we have in srilanka. if it is , then i think you helped me to find the answer.

Civic Vi and ViRS both have 130hp. ViRS prices are over the top so I recommend Vi which should be faster on a stright line due to it's lower weight than ViRS while sharing the same engine. There are quite a few Vi's around and there are just as many fakes too. So ensure that the car you buy has VTEC solenoids and not just a Vi badge. How to check VTEC solenoid has been discussed in this forum so a search would help you.

Perhaps the best way you can check whether the Civic you buy has the ingredients is to ask the owner to do 0-100 on a quieter road and you do the timing. I don't know whether a typical seller would agree to that though :speechless-smiley-006:
