Ok,so as everyone knows, the limit for motorcycle engine displacement is 250cc,but there are a lot of bikes that is past that that limit and this has been going on for many years, recently i heard that there a lot of police around now searching for bikes over 250cc and catching them,i love bikes and do not want to get a 250cc as many of them are too old and in bad condition,is there anyway of avoiding getting caught with a High capacity bike, any ways to fool the cops or anything?thnx

Members,

I know there are plenty of motor cycles registered before the restriction of 250 CC came in good running condition.

This regulation is enforced to those motor cycles( Over 250 CC) also. Or they can use without any difficulty.

I appreciate if any member who is knowledgeable about this law will educate the A/L Forum.

first...some details in your post are utter rubbish!

There ARE plenty 250's to be bought in the market that are in bloody good condition. If you have the bucks, bikes are there.

If your looking for a 250 for a buck and a half...you'd find crappy bikes.

Most people who ride their 400's and even 1000's on the open roads successfully is with nothing more than a bit of common sense.

If you seek attention and show off, you're bound to get copped.

There are a few chaps on this forum itself who rides/have ridden 1000's on normal roads without problems.

Ripper,

Can you inform that motor cycles before the restrictons came in registered over 250CC.

Are they are allowed to run on srilanka roads.

Sylvi Wijesinghe.

I have two 1000cc bikes.A Yamaha and a Kawasaki...is that proof enough?

And no they're not allowed to run on SL roads...

The displacement allowed is upto 350cc

Like ripper said if u really like to ride a big bike dont go around discussing it on public forums & telling everyone that i have a big bike. Becoz thats what gets u in trouble in the first place so Just buy the damn thing & ride it. Unless ofcourse u wanna get a big bike for the bragging rights & look cool infront of your friends. Then i suggest u just get your self a riced up 250 with a 600cc body kit im sure u can fool your friends with it.

i didnt wanna get a bike for bragging rights or anything i just saw a HC bike in pretty good cond at a good price, thats all,not a big fan of the inline 4 cyl 250's here cause of the reliability issues.

You can ride a HC bike legally with Defence clearance ,other than that its just taking a risk .

TBH even the big shots and there siblings are worried to wildly ride there

hc's on the road . If you can live with decently riding a HC then go for one .Else just get a pimped out FZ or cbr .

i love bikes and do not want to get a 250cc as many of them are too old and in bad condition
