500s are pretty rare in Sri Lanka, not a single one has been up for sale in the recent past. Parts supply is not great either, not in Sri Lanka at least. You'll have to get down bits from elsewhere.

Its a 50 year old Italian car so it is NOT going to be a Corolla in terms of reliability so if you're planning to use it as a regular runner that would pose some issues.

And finally... an Abarth for 400,000 rupees? You're kidding right??

Anyway no Abarth tweaked 500s came to Sri Lanka (or any other Abarth cars for that matter). The sole Abarth we have is one new generation 500 Abarth, and that cost something like 20 times your budget.

All in all, I think your best bet if you want a reliable runner is to save up a bit more and go for a Corolla KE72 Wagon.

If you MUST have a classic, then you can't go wrong with a VW bug. You can get a really nice one with your current budget. I don't quite understand how you find it "Bulky" either....

Dude as Supra_Natural says yr best option is to go for an Corolla KE72 Wagon or dx.those ones are very reliable.dnt buy thse rare cars u r gnna spend everydy at a garage or ull need more than 4lax for the repairs later....i would say go for a corolla or buy a realy good looking bike for that price (CBR) ..ull get more attention even ;)

There were two 600s up for sale here about two months ago, maybe they're still available. Do a search in the Buy section.

A mini is way over your budget. You might be able to find a Ford Laser too.

i thought ford lasers we have here are Japanese ones i could be wrong though.

you cant be cheapo AND picky. Do wat S_N said and if that's not possible try finding a 90s maruti... thats NOT Japanese :P

Oddly, have any of you seen a 90's maruti recently? A friend was looking to buy one at one point, and we just didn't see a single one below 300-. Ended up going for a scooby Rex. Which is MUCH more fun

I guess they just dont last that long...

I remember some years back, the agent had a buy-back scheme where you can hand in your old maruti 800 and top up the value and get a new one. Still unless there's some landfill thats dumped with 1000s of maruti 800s i cant imagine what might have happened to all of those...

A friend owns a one (17/18/19- cant remember)

apparently the family doesn't want to part with it since it's been working fine for them for a long time and with good efficiency. it's a daily runner

On numerous occasions I have suggested some other cars but it's negative :)

Macho a mini is a labour of love. It's not even on the same planet as a maruti. Read up some posts by members like MINIACE and you'll get a good idea.

They are an absolute joy to own and drive, if you're willing to spend some quality time with them.

But they won't be your bit*h that you can run to the ground and neglect.
