Wheel Alignment After Replace With New Tyres

Recommended Posts

Not wheel alignment but it's wheel balancing whats required after a tire change. Let alone tire change, if the existing tire has taken off the rim without putting a mark on rim and tire, ideally that wheel should be balanced.

Logic is to make sure weight of the rim + tire is even across all axis.

Yes. i agree with balance. but most of wheel alignment saying to aligen the caster, camber, toe after replace the tyres. so as i'm aware those adjusments will not affect dueting the tyre change:):)

thanks

Well look at it this way. Wheel alignment plus balancing cost about 2000- 3000 rupees. A set of tyres are now upwards of 40K. You are right, a tyre change won't cause wheels to go out of alignment, but that tends to happen over time because of wear of bushes, joints, and bending of suspension due to use on our bumpy roads. That is why it is common practice to align your wheels when you change tyres. To be perfectly honest it should be part of routine maintenance done at least once a year if you are doing upwards of 5K a year, or more frequently if you do a lot of miles. Will save you money on uneven tyre wear on the long run.

Mostly it is suggested to make sure the new tires will wear evenly. Considering the cost of tires vs alignment it is cheap insurance.

Theoretically alignment could change when you change tires. If your old ones were very worn and the new ones have a deeper tread it will cause a change in the ride height and hence a change in the alignment. But don't think it;s significant unless you changed tire sizes. Anyway I always check the alignment with the new tires.

Trust me it hurts when you start seeing irregular wear on a new tire :(
