Power Steering Issue

Hi Experts,

I had some issue with steering in my Toyota Vios.

When I drive the car, sometimes when I turn, I feel to my hand that steering wheel is bit loose and after some time it comes back to normal.

Is that normal or any issue with power steering?

Do you mean to say there's a play in the steering? Get the rack ends checked.

Isn't it possible to be a loosen power steering belt ? or the Vios is EPS ?

What I mean is when take a turn, steering wheel can easily turn and I feel that I have to turn the steering wheel a lot to get even a relatively small bend.

Also how can I find that my VIOS is EPS?

The gearing on the steering box is decided by the manufacturer (the angle you need to move your steering wheel to achieve a certain amount of movements of the wheels). and that can't be changed. You can switch over to a smaller steering wheel but you will lose the airbag in the process.

But if this is caused by a steering play, check the rack ends.
