Those are calcium deposits in the drops of rain water building up over a long time, which soap/water glass cleaner will not get out. There is an American Product known as ( am I allowed to give the brand?????) Water Spot Remover which removes mineral spots such as this. I doubt it being available in the local market BUT it works wonders. You can try ebay or even contact the producer. If I am permitted by the mods I can give the brand and web address.

nish1,

This patches are acid rain marks, use a polishing machine with a felt pad, some metal polish like Brasso.

The stuff I use is MALCO Water Spot Remover. No felt pads, no machines required just a sponge soaked in warm water and about 2-3 blobs of the paste like substance removes these mineral stains like magic. I have tried Brasso but it did not work.

Check it out here is the direct link to the product itself:

PS:

I got my bottle from NZ.

Just wondering if 3M glass cleaner would help.

I was looking for this and could not get hold of that.

Checked with Klxxn park..........

They said need to go for diamond powder glass polishing - cost -- only the windshield - 3500/ full jeep - 13,000

Did not try this as yet.

Called the vehicle agent as the jeep is under warrantly.

They wanted to take her there to see what they can do............ will keep you posted.

DVT,

3M had clay (3M Perfect-It III Cleaner Clay) can use same with water and rub on the glass then the stains go off.

I do not know this product is available with them now. Not very successful in USA or in SL.

There are plenty of glass cleaners in the market can buy from petrol filling stations and super markets. Do not know how efficient they are.

Kleen Park uses a normal buffing machine. I have a exclusive glass cleaning machine. Both are USA products similar cleaning solvents are used.

Not advertising kleen Park or my machine, this is for member’s information.

nishi1 and DVT,

Do you all use well water for cleaning the vehicle which has some deposits. I have come across few new vehicles with this problem.

I got those owners to get their well water analyze by Bamber & Bruce (Pvt) Ltd, in Colombo.

To find the well water they consumed had mineral deposits, which will have stains after washing for some time on glasses

Please do inform what is the water you'll use for cleaning the car.

Yes yes "not advertising" yourself indeed

Anyway, i would first try some strong glass cleaning solution or a mild rubbing compound or even some braso before spending 13,000 (or 15,000 for certain 'services to the automotive community'). be mindful dab a bit of braso (or whatever you're trying) onto a cloth or finger and do slightly less visible area of the glass to see if it works before going full-on.

Washing at home is not very frequent. Even that is just tap water.

I know for a fact that service station people tend to use well water as the cost for tap water is too high.

That will not be the case may be because after washing they wipe out the water drops and apply glass clearer liquid.I guess this is do something with rain water as no wiping out after driving under rain.

Glass cleaner concentrated or otherwise or Brasso or compound machine rubbed or hand rubbed will not take out these spots off as far as my experience goes. If anyone succeeds using these let me also know please!

For the moment I stick with MALCO Water Spot Remover which of course is a bit hard to get down to SL.

Please do share how the MALCO Water Spot Remover goes.

I soaked a sponge in warm water ( recommended instructions) and then squeezed 2-3 blobs of the paste like substance ( about 1 teaspoonful) onto the sponge. Then evenly spread the paste over about half of the shutter and in circular motions buffed the glass till it became clear (about 5-10mnts). Then I wiped off with a damp cloth and finally used glass cleaner leaving the glass nice and shiny. I repeated the process on heavy patches. A spot free surface is assured.

Today in the morning tried Braso while I was waiting for small one's school van :) and it worked it seems.

Need to try that in full ............. should try over the weekend ............ but my paint fellow said to dilute the effect with some thinner.....

good to know brasso works.. and your painter might be right. Brasso is a cutting compound and can damage the glass if overdone/overused. So it might help to dilute it a bit. To be honest it wasn't my discovery. I think it was VVTi who had a similar issue once. He went to a shop with a "Exclusive American polisher" and was quoted something like 15,000.. He bought a bottle of Brasso and did it himself too.. hehhee :)
