Hi All

i replaced the ignition coil on my W123 and Mini about 8months back, and both coils have packed up now. this is the second time it has happened... could anyone provide some reason as to what may be the cause of this? or advice a reliable brand, shop to buy them?

1. How abt your ballast resistor? Is it in place?

2. Is the coil mounted vertically. If so you must have a good HT wire with snug-fit boot to keep away moisture entering from top and seep inside.

If you're still using using the original 'bothal type' coils try upgrading to an electronic coil.Costs about 3-5k depending on the brand.I have had three cars converted to Bosch electronic coils without fuss.New-Era is also a good brand.Before buying cross check the part no. and see if the new coil is compatible with your vehicle.
