Hi minuwan,

What are the deciding factors you are considering? Reliability, maintenance cost, parts availability or fuel economy etc?

If you are just asking opinions, I myself would go for the ES8.

The biggest selling points of the HT51S (the so called Swift Jeep model) is ground clearance, simplicity and robustness. Its a hardy little car where you can see all around, easy to drive and park particularly for lady drivers (my sister drives one).

But it is a fairly basic hatchback which is not that comfortable and does not really have many modern options apart from AC/ PS/ PW and sometimes power mirrors.

If you can extend your budget a bit you can reach for the newer Swift which is nicer to driver, the Toyota Vitz or the Mazda Demio but only if you are considering small hatch back. The brand new Viva must be fairly close to these prices as well.

The ES8 is a different class of vehicle. Its a mid sized sedan with a bigger engine and lot more options.

So you can't really compare the two. It helps to know what your priorities are from a motor vehicle.

Swift is newer & will work better on fuel if you want a Hatchback.

oooohhhh no its not

The swift is not that economical as people think it is.

The Beetle model does a bit well than the Jeep model but still we(my friends not ours) struggled to get over 11kmpl and the jeep model they struggled to get over 10kmpl (Both will do more in long distance though)

Those are rev happy 1.3ltr engines.

IMHO go for the ES8, Its simply a damn nice car to drive. The car is very planted to the road and well, its a civic even later on you can improve everything

Im not saying the swift is a bad car but i would choose the ES8.

although for 2.1M if you search hard you might find a Swift beetle model for that price as well. a japanese one.

but out of these two models OP specifying, swift does better on fuel

arn't they ?

Not necessarily. Fuel economy is somewhat linked to engine design and the rev range. Smaller engines sometimes need to be revved hard to gain acceloration and bigger engines don't need to be revved as hard.

This is linked to engine design as well as how you drive and where you drive.

So the HT51S engine while being very reliable does rev a lot, have Suzukis own variable valve technology but isn't that great on fuel. 11KM/L should be possible out of an ES8 with some careful driving (I must admit our HT51S gets around 9!)

I've merged your two topics together. Rather than open separate topics its easier to continue the conversation if you want advice on a purchase.

Seriously, its hard to help/advice people when they asking to compare the sun and the moon

Do define what you want from the car

I get a feeling OP wants something small, used by most people, new and economical

Exactly what I asked him in my first post!

I remember hearing this piece of advice; "Always go for a car which has a bit more power than you would normally need. You won't have to squeeze it's neck for normal driving and it will still have more to give when you want to have some fun"

then his best bet would be the old model swift or the vitz.

I am using the above Jap 1.3 Car from two weeks. I have done a full service including changing Gear Oil at Pit Stop and a Normal Tune up too. Did not change Plugs or anything just Trottle Body cleaning with WURTH Spray at A*W. Yet My cay does 8.12 Km/L in city with Driving on or Under 2000 RPM. This worries me alot as when i bought this the owner said it does 10 In City easily. Mine is NON CVT and A*W Engineers said it should do 10 for sure. Please Advice me as to what should i do to get atleast 9.5 - 10. Many Thanks.

for that range you could get a Euro diesel car, like BMW E36,Audi A4 .

good handling and confort, fuel efficient, and fun to drive.

but if you think about resale value,Maruti Alto would be the best choice for this price.
