Exaust Refeeding System To The Inlet Manifold In 2 C Engine

luckey007

Question

Dear Friends,

I do use, rather abuse a toyota ce 110 and at the moment I put it for the engine overhaul. In this engine there is a connecting line between exaust and inlet manifolds which opens in high rpm by a vaccume actuvator. When I was buying it was blocked by someone previously by putting bicycle balls. My mechanic has cleared it and fixed it. The engine is now rebuilded and when it is running in high rpm it starts to smoke badly once the connecting line opens. If we remove the vaccume line hence closes the connection smoking ceases.

So friends,1) What is this called?I can not even search the web without a proper name.

2) Howcan I resolve this?

Experts, Please Help.

Regards,

Luckey.

If I'm not mistaken, you have just described the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR), the purpose of which is to burn off some of the unburnt hydro carbons in exhaust fumes and recirculate some of the gasses detrimental to the environment to aid with emissions.

Now I don't understand why your car smokes when the valve is actuated provided it is clean. I'm not too familiar with them so can't really help you find a solution I'm afraid :(

1. It is exhaust gas recirculation unit, EGR

2.Usually car should smoke when it is CLOSED not it is working, because it get the exhaust gases burnt, I THINK it is kinda environment saving gadget and might enhance fuel economy

3.Most probably your car is smoking due to some other cause,

most mech ("maka bass") do not do proper overhaul, for my 2c it took us (me and my bro) hell a full 1 week for the head rebuilt only, bloody valve adjustment is one of the most crucial part but most mech do is just clean and reassemble! They even wont change the air filter (Must need a original one). It should only smoke very little (Could not even detect unless under direct sunlight) ONLY at very hight rev.

Mech keep the pump maximum advance for "better start" ("You touch the key it starts", so most of our ppl think engine is pretty good now!!!) but normal 2C not like that it needs little crank, pump MUST be in standed position. When the pump is standed position it need lil crank to start but it pulls like nothing not a bit of smoke.

Coming to your problem, I guess it is due to pump position and/or valve adjustment (Intake 0.2-0.3mm; Exaust 0.25-0.35mm) just check. The most difficult part is finding a good mech. (That is why we did DIY for our engine)

Thanks Bro,

The mech is my friend and he and a I made the head rebuild.valve adjustment is as you mentioned, pump is in standart position. Before we replace the head we checked the valves by even putting kerosine through the manifolds. Is it due to the pump settings? We got it serviced from outside.

Your ideas are very helpful.
