How Many Smart Keys Does A New Car Comes With

Hello guys, I'm new to this forum. I have very little knowledge about cars.

This what I need to clarify, Do we get two smart keys when we buy new car? or is it only one?

You might want to check if the 2nd key is hidden somewhere inside the car.

There was a bazzar case where a AL member was saying that his car wouldnt lock automatically. He thought it was a broken sensor or software glitch, but it ended up being that the exporter had hidden the extra key under the seat or something. Hence, the car wouldnt auto-lock since the key was 'inside' the car. It may not be related at all, but just saying...

It depends from manufacturer to manufacturer. For some vehicle two smart keys is an option. Whats your vehicle?

Well the previous owner of my vehicle had a key bolted to the rear buffer from the inside. We could not find it the time of sale. So the first thing I had to do was locate the key. It was quite the experience. Come to think of it we really know how to hide things.

Importers normally hide the second smart key cos they have a nasty habit of going missing en-route.

Check with your ECU you can get the exact number of programmed keys.Some times it may require the pin number comes with the key(usually for Toyota metal strip with a set of numbers)

Two is a default number. Sometimes, car comes with one, these are for imports from Japan(used)
