Citroën
hi all, i've got a 2011 sorento, which has done only 23000 kms, where the steering has become tight, it's especially apparent when turning left or right. i went to the agents, who didn't even drive the vehicle, but said there must be problem with steering rack bush. they seem to be a bit disorganized at their new location, since the fire at their union place branch. i also took the vehicle to pitstop for their oponion, h'ever they could not find any problem with the rack bush or rods, etc... they did the wheel alignment, but the steering issue is still there. wondering if any other kia owners have come across the same problem ? thanks
0 RViji
in a different vehicle(Suzuki Swift),Electric Power Steering motor bushes were worn out,and replacing them solved a similar issue. Does the Sorento have EPS?

0 RWD
sorento has EPS from what i remember. its very very unlikely that you would have EPS issues on such a low mileage vehicle. these systems are very robust.
0 JayZ
where is the new location of KIA Motors and the workshop ?
0 JayZ
And on the 2014 Sorento, you can control the steering tightness of the EPS from very light to heavy. Not sure this is possible on the previous model.
0 Citroën
hi all, thanks for all the suggestions, but i already checked all the obvious things. the 2011 sorento has hydraulic power-steering and the fluid level is ok as well. jay z - the new kia service place is on base line road, passing auto miraj and the flyover, it's on the left hand side when coming from borella. 0 vishkid
Citroen, bumping this to find out what happened? Steering problems have been fairly well reported in North American Sorento's 2011/12. Just wanted to know if this was fixable and if anyone else knows Sorento having steering problems in SL. I'm looking at one .. hence the inquiry. 0 Citroën
hi vishkid, the kia agents replaced the steering column, for free, even though the warranty had expired one & half months earlier, every nice of them. there was't an immediate improvement, so i took it back and they replaced the p/steering fluid, again for free, they said the only other options were to replace the steering rack or pump, which would be costly since the warranty had expired. the steering seems to have improved. i was pleased with the agents flexibility, since there are lots of negative posts about them. 0 vishkid
Thanks for the info. From what I've heard, there is a bit of change about their service levels now. Glad to know your problem too is seemingly on the mend!

Now that's a great strategy, do the cheap repair first for free and then advice the customer the cost of the next step and let the placebo effect take over lol... 0 Aravinda_2011
I owned a 2012 model but compared to my previous Toyota vios car its seems bit tight if you take sharp turns not that much smooth as a car. Are you felt the same tightness or more than that, meaning you feel there is no power at all when taking turns in steering? 0 Citroën
even when driving in a straight line, the steering wheel still feels tight, but it can felt more when taking sharp turns. it seems to be problem will all kia models from the on-line posts, but only affects certain vehicles
Question
Citroën
hi all,

apparent when turning left or right.

or rods, etc...
they did the wheel alignment, but the steering issue is still there.
wondering if any other kia owners have come across the same problem ?
thanks
