If you had engine oil spread all around, you should know where the leak is. Did you get the oil warning lamp? The most common places for a oil leak are the cam cover, oil pressure sensor, crack in the sump, sump gasket and the oil filter mount. How bad is the leakage ie how much of oil was filled up during your above journey? Get it fixed ASAP not to risk extensive damage to the engine.

+1 to What romesh said.. check whether the oil stick fixed properly. if you can give a wash to engine & inspect you can identify the oil leak easily.

Just to know something related to the same.

what can be the issue oil light is on while the engine is idle or slow but it get off when accelerate ?

Could be due to:

- Your engine is idling too low

- A faulty oil pressure sensor

- Oil pump needing replacement

Back to OP.

Like Rumesh said, the oil pressure indicator would have come on your dashboard as the engine started to lose oil. So for how long did you drive with the oil pressure indicator on? And what made you stop the car and check if something was wrong? Did you get a burning smell or did the car feel underpowered?

i was not getting anything that you have said, i did not feel anything wrong while driving and didn't indicate oil pressure. i just stop the car for take a rest. then i noticed that oil is leaking from the engine.

More than explain in technically what I can say is your a very lucky person that you arrive home safe under this situation.

If the oil pressure indicator didn't come up, then it is likely that the oil level didn't drop below the minimum level - which is a good thing. If this is the case, your engine would have not sustained any damage. So get the oil leak repaired as soon as possible.

Does your oil pressure indicator light up when you switch on the ignition and go off when the engine starts up?

It is also possible that the car was over filled with oil at the last service. This usually triggers oil leaks from all over the place, as the oil pressure rises too high.

As some have said its possible it never dipped under the minimum level.
