Bmw E46 320D

Recommended Posts

Search the forum. Has been discussed a few times.

Off the top of my head, the older E46 with the non common rail Diesel engine had a lot of problems. This is a model to stay away from. The face lift with the common rail was a much better bet and far less troublesom.

Things to look out for are (I'm talking about the common rail version)

1. Swirl flaps - need to be blanked out or removed as they have a habit of falling falling in via the intake manifold and causing catastrophic damage to the engine.

2. Electronic niggles with the instrument cluster

3. Warning lights, air bag, abs warnings are common and mostly to do with simple things like seat belt sensor, contacts and the wheel speed sensor

4. Blocked dpf and issues with the EGR

Most importantly, make sure you buy one with a known history and maintained by a specialist.

Hi

search for a previous but could not found so,

need to know about BMW E46 320d car, how reliable and visa versa of using it...common repiars and risky things to happen etc...

many advertised cars says does do good fuel but why they selling then? what issues this model have?

thanks.

Really, you searched and didnt find anything???

Is this the new line lazy-asses use now? jeez!

I found more than 10 threads about the very same topic in less than 10 seconds.

I'm surprised The Don bent over so easily and entertained such repeat questions... I thought he'd manned up now. Not a very good moderating if he's encouraging such bad forum behavior..

Nothing wrong with them machang. Superb car. Does about 16kmpls on diesel. Supremely reliable. German tech after all. Parts are freely available with Milroy and now Bugatti who has his own BMW shop.

Risky things are common to all cars. Falling branches, coconuts, crazy suicidal dogs, cattle, crazy tuk tuk drivers, COlombo Matara buses, Bus #138, Vezel/Hybrid owners, bad fuel, etc.

Buy one.

People sell for many reasons.
