Does anybody know when the next Police Auction will be held? Seems like lots of old vehicles are up for sale in the yard.

Those cars have been lying there for a number of years. So when is anybodys guess. Its become an obstacle course now, where people in the neighbourhood go for walks. Thats one of the sad things. Used to be a nice park to play sports etc. Now its just full of salvage vehicles.

Some of the Defenders and Japanese cars can probably put back in the road. I don't hold much hope for the Indian vehicles. Shows the contrast between quality and false economy.

It will be gazetted. so follow the weekly gazette notices. However it will be difficult to compete with all the baiyas coming there with influential contacts and thuggery.

Influential contacts are not a serious problem now (unless you are buying outside the auction) and neither is thuggery. Auction is relatively open and if its a tender procedure, you can be there at the tender opening. However, those guys generally end up paying exhorbitant prices for these vehicles (especially LRs, Pajeros and Land Cruisers and the like) because they value the CR more than anything else and they know how to maximize their profit. An average joe can get a Maruti jeep or a trad sunny or something but forget buying anything better than that.
