Well I use an older Ford Laser (92 model) BJ3 engine,1300cc

does 8kmpl in City with AC and 13KMPL outstation long trips with AC

spare parts are freely available in but you need to go to Panchkawata (asiri motors and raninbow motors)

mechanics the Lasers share the same engine and transmission as the Mazda 323 ,quite good and hardy

No idea about Mondeos, but currently own a Laser (YoM 2000). Shares the same engine as Mazda BJ5. Almost all the engine and interior parts are compatible with BJ5p except for body parts.

Like any other car, very reliable if you treat her properly.... Mine is a 1500cc which does around 9-10Km/l in city and around 13Kmpl outstation.

Ford Laser is same as Mazda.

Mondeo is a different beast. I had one previously. Lovely car with ample options if you can find a 2004 GIHA model.

But you should know how to maintain it properly. Finding right parts and a mechanic who knows the model will be a challenge.

1. are they fuel economical? ford Mondeo 2003 and laser 2003 - Ford is a 2 Llr car. Did around 7 in Colombo traffic with light footed driving.
2. Spare parts - Will be hard to source. But common stuff you can order online. And in panchi there are few joints who has parts.
3. how about mechanics? - Again hard to come by.
4. engines? body? tear and wear - Engine Duratec 2 Ltr. There is a 1.8 and 2.5 model also. 1.8 was the basic model.
