Huge Ho Sound Of Rear Wheels When Running Over 50Kmph

asanka_rg

Question

Hi,

This is my first post on auto lanka. I really appreciate your feedback on my issue. I have recently noticed there is some huge sound in car rear wheels.

I guess the problem is rear axle bearings. Sound look like bit of wow wow...when going over 50kmph.

I need some advice on this. How bad is this. Do i need to do a quick repair. If the prob is bearings give me a hint abt the cost. Car is Chevrolet Cruze 2004 limited.

To find who the culprit is do this.

Jack the car up.

Try to rotate the wheel

If it doesn't rotate smoothly, the the bearings might be the problem.

Some cars need only to replace the bearing. that's a very cheap fix.

Some need to replace the whole unit. If that's the case, it'll cost few thousands.

Had this happen with my Vios. Left rear bearing was shot. Remove the wheel and spin the suspected hub by hand, you will feel a grating sensation as opposed to a tight but smooth movement. Or better take it to your garage and ask the mechanic to check it.
