Question

Hi Guys,

I recently changed the rear right wheel hub of my Toyota Aqua. There was a heavy WHORING sound when it hit around 40kmph.The noise was there when i bought the car but the sound came after it hit like 50 and of course the seller had his own version to explain it.I wanted to change the part with OEM and called the agents to find 1 unit cost around 34k and finally ended up by replacing the whole thing at 15k :music-smiley-004: .

I bought the same unit but KOYO (Japan) for 14500/- (Original selling price was around 17500/- and i got a discount from a known contact) from a place in Delkanda.Fixing cost me only Rs.500/- and the job was done within 30 minutes.(They checked all four wheels and found the matter was with the rear right side).

Have anyone got experience with KOYO hubs? I know the brand is there for sometime and when i inquired from my friends they all recommended it.I know its not OEM but as per the news i got its durable and there was a huge saving from both Unit+labor.

I have attached a pic of OEM and KOYO. They had hubs starting from 7k but they recommended this one to be lasting.

Would appreciate if you guys can share your personal experience with the same brand

Koyo is a reputed bearing manufacturer, and the quality is pretty much as same as any Japanese OEM bearing. So if you got yourself a genuine Koyo hub, you should be set for quite a while.

Thanks for the reply Davy. Believe it is to be genuine Japan. It was mentioned in the box and since i bought the part from a known contact hope i was not caught up in a scandal. The two items were exact weight and looked almost the same thing. Importantly, i do not have any headache while driving now!

I couldn't help but noticing the "WHORING sound" part :sport-smiley-004: . It's Roaring mate :)
