Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a good used vehicle and it's been a while.
My budget is 5.5 Million
Maximum could go up to 6 Million.

I really need your help on this.

Fuel is not much of a concern since I'm using a Bluebird Shylphy 2011 at the moment. rofl8yi.gifrofl8yi.gif
However, maintenance cost and parts availability are a little concern.

I'm thinking of following vehicles.
But have 2nd thoughts as well.
Please help.

Thanks in advance. yes4lo.gifyes4lo.gif

1. Honda CRV - 2012-13
2. Toyota Harrier/ Lexus RX300 - 2008-10
3. Prado - 2002-04
4. Montero Sport - 2012-14

5. BMW X1

Hi to you too....

So it seems you are looking for a SUVish type vehicle ? Do you need 4WD/AWD ?

1 and 2. Please search the forum for RAV4, X-Trail, etc threads....myself and quite a few other members have shared their experiences with the CR-V and its competitors.

2. The Harrier would be the JDM model and the Lexus would be export models typically from SG, UK, etc...

3. When I was looking for a car late last year I looked in to the possibility of a Prado as well. What I discovered was that most of them have been hacked (at the very least mechanically). So if you do go for one..please get it thoroughly checked out

4. Not the most refined..but gets the job done.

5. Search the forum

May I also suggest you look in to RAV4, X-Trail and even the Vitara ? I have no idea how much a Fortuner goes for these days but that too is there. I guess the Outlander is not your cup of tea ? You do get the gasoline variant. The Toyota Vanguard (which is the long wheel base RAV4) is also a possibility. Whilst the Vangaurd is more plush than the RAV4, the 2.4L engine variant is not the most appropriate engine for that car; the 3.5L variant is...but then I seriously doubt the 3.5L variant came to SL.

I'm actually looking to buy a SUV 4WD

I will check on RAV4 as well

What about Montero Sport and BMW X1

I've heard the maintainance cost is quite high though

you have 5,6 million in hand and still looking for 7-10 year old vehicles just for the SUV look when you can buy a new sedan with newest technologies. may be I don't get the point. :speechless-smiley-004:

Might i also suggest a Toyota Vanguard. it is a bigger Rav4 With more options. The issue is, its hard to find.

Maybe you don't get the point because you didn't read his entire post, he currently owns a Bluebird Sylphy 2011.

@bid87 - If you intend to buy a vehicle for daily usage, try to stick with the newer models (YOM 2010 onwards). The Prado is one masterpiece of a vehicle, but it'll be hard to find a vehicle with YOM 2002 that has been maintained properly. Try to avoid the ones used by politicians and "mudalalis".

Vangaurd ne...I suggested it....but would not recommend it.

The 2.4L engine is just adequate for that car and couple that with the CVT it is just purely bland.(especially if its an AWD variant...not to worry though not many AWDs made it to SL). Comparatively the same 2.4L and CVT in the JDM RAV4 feels a lot more peppier. The Vanguard will do what it is supposed to do and is a bit more plush than the RAV4...

If you need a Vanguard go for a 3.5L with a standard AT. Much more interesting car but yes it is fuel thirsty.

People has been recommending me Premio ...

I've been using a Bluebird Shylphy for more than a year and I've felt its far better than Premio or Allion

Any perticular reason why people ask you to go for Premio or Allion ??

Well to be honest..the Premio is a decent comfy car...not the most engaging or exciting of rides and drives..but it gives you some creature comforts and gets you from A to Z. Has a few niggles (as any car would) but if you take care of it; it will give you some decent miles over a decent lifespan. IMO the 1.5L is a tad under powered under heavy load but still will get you from A to Z.

Only hitch is..I believe cars like the Premio/Allion/etc...are over priced because of the hype. Well at least because of the hype they had some time ago before the Hybrid and Weasel fever ran wild. Also there was a lot of false value created by the car salesmen by misleading people with things like "G Superior" and gold bagdes and stuff.

Why do people keep recommending it to you...well...mainly because of the skewed car market in SL....the belief is that they hold there value as much as gold :sport-smiley-004: ..especially now that the beloved Prius and even the Axela is way out of everyone's budget <granted I wouldn't be surprised if the prices of Premios and Allions will sky rocket>
