Toyota C-HR 1.2L vs Audi Q2 1L

B2Spirit

Question

I would like to know Pros and Cons of these 2 vehicles.

Due to the new tax system these 2 vehicles have become attractive.

I checked the specs and noticed that the C-HR is slightly bigger and considerably heavier.

But the power output listed for both engines seems to be around 115PS.

Most small turbo engines need 95 octane fuel regardless of it being Japanese or not. If it didn't have a turbo then 92 would be fine unless your manual says otherwise.

Depend on the engine tune, some non turbo cars recommend 95/98

Depends on the availability of fuel in respective market, for instance UK spec Regular is 95, premium/super is 98 any car imported from UK will need 95

In Japan regular is 89 and premium is 96, majority of the mainstream JDMs are tuned to run on regular irrespective of turbo or not.

Agent imported CRV require 92 octane as per the manual and the sticker in the fuel filer hatch, it is turbo charged

No...it is a range....these days regular ranges from lower 90s to 95 and Premium/high Oct from 95 to 98/99; depending on the brand.

I said small engines. Most of them require high octane fuel to reduce or eliminate "knock". Even in higher capacity turbo engines its the same principle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking

A turbo sends pressurized hot air forcefully into the chambers. a certain compression ratio is needed to produce the high power outputs of these small engines. Fuel quality plays a major role here, low octane fuel might not damage the engine in the long run but it will lose it's quoted power figures and get worse economy.
